Not the best at sounding like an actual Univibe though; not by a long shot. The waveform of the modulation is too even and lacks the characteristic “throb” sound. Check out the Sabbadius line of Funky Vibe pedals. The guy builds them exactly the same as they were made in the 60s and 70s.
@harleymendez396816 күн бұрын
@darwinsaye Agreed, and the Chewy Vibe is the greatest one! However there’s no way I would ever take it out of my home for any usage. It’s hand built, fragile and really expensive. No way I would ever risk it getting hurt in a live setting. Plus 99% of most crowd have no idea about gear and 95% of most clubs and venues sound like shit so authenticity won’t really matter. Just my 2 cents.

Meastro Fuzz it is an awesome pedal. So is the Tube Vibe, Funky-Vibe, Mojo-Vibe, Vibe-Bro ( made my Shin-Ei who made the original Uni-Vibe ) and the 1967. All amazing Vibes. The pedals I just listed are probably better the JHS ( which is just ordered btw cuz it’s a top notch vibe ) but they are all very expensive. I’m going to use the the Unicorn until I could afford one of the vibes I just mentioned. I think the JHS Unicorn may be the best vibe for the price. Any opinions on the other vibes besides the Drybell?
@TheTN244 жыл бұрын
@@jordandangelo180 Vibes are all pretty unique, more so than most effects IMO because it's not just a feel thing but flavor as well. And how they interact with your playing and where/how you want the throb/swirl to be. For example I personally don't like the Drybell V2, I can never get the throb/swirl where I want it no matter how much I tweak the pedal, which is highly tweakable. Whereas with my Mojo and my Retrovibe, they seem to have more going on in terms of the swirl along with the throb. Actually I prefer my JHS modded Micro-Vibe over the Drybell and why I'm very much interested in the Unicorn V2. I'm pretty much a vibe freak so it might be the next in my collection. Granted if size wasn't an issue I'd be all over the Shin-EI stuff.
@jordandangelo1804 жыл бұрын
TheTN24 hey man I own a JHS Unicorn V2 and it’s a nice vibe. It’s close to what I thought it would be. You may like it because of the tap tempo. I am also a vibe freak and always run into the same problem of not getting the throb of the vibe to fall where I want it to. I was able to get it with the 2006 version of the Dunlop Uni Vibe. The metal big box version. It was made with very good internal components and is much superior to the vibe Dunlop makes today which I owned and did not like at all. Since I wrote that last post, I think I came across the best Vibe, aside from the Shin-Ei Vibes of course, but it is very very close. It’s called the God Vibe. It uses old style design and has a fuse in the back like the original. It has the best throb and tone I’ve heard from a vibe since the Hendrix tones to my ears. Only thing is, it’s not readily available to buy and it’s very expensive to have made and you need a voltage converter if using it the USA or the UK But the Tone is there!

@Petrolpelican Жыл бұрын
@MOONfacekilla i know im super late, but i would guess fuzz before vibe, just because putting fuzz anywhere but first in your signal chain can really make things muddy and dirty in an undesirable way.

Do you mean the lo-fi wonkiness/irregularities of original univibes? It’s close but not quite there IMHO. Fantastic playing
@TheRealcdawg22 Жыл бұрын
The JHS Unicorn is a really good photocell vibe. I have zero regrets in purchasing one. The Tap Tempo is really cool and it is well priced. I would not say that it is the be all end all of Vibes, though. I would like to have a Funky-Vibe also, but they are expensive. The Unicorn does alot if not most of the things I want plus it is small, has Tap Tempo or Expression control, sounds really nice, isn't noisy, uses standard power, is relatively inexpensive, and it is built well. If I do get another more expensive Uni-Vibe, I still would keep and use the Unicorn for many things!

Completely stuck between this or the EHX Good Vibes but not sure I can live with the EHX wall wart required.
@TheRealcdawg22 Жыл бұрын
I have them both. The Unicorn is definitely better overall! The EHX Good Vibes is good and it is intense, but I find myself searching with the controls alot more. It's like something is missing. I ended up keeping an expression pedal hooked to it so I can adjust the speed with my feet. It works well with an isolated power supply. You don't have to use the wall wart. The Unicorn is better, though. That is not because I am a snob either. I have a buttload of EHX stuff. It just has a better quality to the sound. It is more versitile, more usable. Tap Tempo or Expression control, standard power, small size, great build, great price! That's the honest low-down.

Thanks for your answer and help ...Best regards from France
@jordandangelo1805 жыл бұрын
Belo Blues I know I’m not the guy who made the video but I’m somewhat of a Uni-Vibe connoisseur. The JHS Unicorn is now $161.00 on Amazon. EHX Good Vibes is a little cheaper. Fulltone Deja Vibe and the Dunlop RotoVibe are god and both come in foot pedal form. You want to get a Uni-Vibe that uses photocells otherwise you won’t be happy with the tone. Phasers are much different than a Uni-Vibe. Now if you want to sped more and get an even more amazing sousing Vibe, go with the Vibe-Bro by Shin-Ei who made the original Hendrix used. The Funky-Vibe, 1967, Mojo-Vibe, Drybell Vibe are all insanely good. Hope this helps.

I just bought this pedal and can't get it to sound anything like this. I have a Les Paul style guitar and tried putting a fuzz (big muff pi) in front and reverb behind the unicorn but it doesn't sound like this. The vibe effect is very weak sounding and just makes the fuzz sound more brittle with a light wah pedal like effect. Any tips from anyone?
