This new technique using dyes opposed to alcohol inks really opened new doors to creating new designs and even accents on designs we all currently create. Thank you for sharing and doing such a great job of explaining the how's and whys, making it so much easier for others to follow!

@Victoria Thornton cool idea!! Do you have a photo of it on the cured piece... I'm wanting to try this but wonder how one can pour the dirty pour AND squirter the ink as it comes out when one is by themselves...

This is unbelievable the things you can do. What would happen if you added the alcohol colors in when you layer your dirty pour. Can you use resin paste to make the alcohol colors. Can you add glitter or diamond dust to the alcohol colors. Thank you for showing us this and thank you Clara Lawrence your creativity mind is awesome
@RK3Designs2 жыл бұрын
The paste won’t dissolve and work with alcohol like the dyes will. You could add a tiny bit of mica powder but I’m not sure about glitter.

FYI, I've used alcohol ink on top of cured resin. I was careful not to dilute it too much (straight out of bottle and only added a slight bit of clear alcohol to get it to move some). Then added a clear coat of resin after it dried a few days...no problem. And so far after a year, no fading. Hope this helps.
@RK3Designs2 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Thank you so much for the tip in the feedback!
@sharonwaddell254811 ай бұрын
my understanding is that alcohol inks contain a binder, allowing them to stick to the substrate. did you include a bindeR?

Ok so RK3 Designs, Clara Lawrence, Erika Bauer and/or Vamp VaCali can you try this with resin tints?
@RK3Designs2 жыл бұрын
That’s what we were using. Dyes are the Alumilite resin dyes.
@VictoriaThorntonArtist2 жыл бұрын
I mixed mica powders with alcohol in those 2 oz bottles (more concentrated than when you mix in a big spray bottle....wondering about fading. Do you think it will fade? Note: I tried this before on cured resin, the mica dried to a powder once the alcohol dissipated!! The clear coat on top worked, but I had to apply very carefully with a light touch!!
@RK3Designs2 жыл бұрын
The mica powders won’t fade. They will stay very brilliant 😊😊
@VictoriaThorntonArtist2 жыл бұрын
Looking forward to trying this with the dyes. I checked them out on your website....Which is better, translucent or fluorescent?

So 2 drops alumilite dye to test alcohol...but what is the size of the bottles or which bottles did you use.. a link for that would also be most important to know since you guys said "fill the rest with alcohol". Thank you!!!

Hi Rhonda - I live on the island of Cyprus in the Med. I have alcohol inks but cannot get alumalite products here. Can you ship to me (some products cannot go by air as they are classed as hazardous) or is there a supplier in Europe for these products. Just love the effect that can be created and that they are non fading is wonderful. Thanks - Debbie

Not a problem I have found a supplier from then U.K. Cant wait to try them.
