Unbelievably clean, & sharp as a tact! I love Cadillacs & the long history behind the company. This is truly what I like to call an American classic.

I had a dream last night with this exact car in it, right down to the pattern on the seats. Now I really, really wish I could go back in time and get this car.

What great memories! that was a fine machine. Ours was driven by three generations of our family. I would take it all original. Hope she goes to someone who can appreciate her.

also, the 500 cid Cadillac engine had come out the previous year in the Eldo, so this was not "GM's largest V8 to date. Just being a stickler. BTW -Lovely gorgeous car.

You’re correct about the engine!

Nice 71........ note the front and rear hoods.....in 70 and 71 Devilles ....Cadillac did away with the V ...just the crest was used...... there was so much fuss about this from Caddy Fans that in 1972 Devilles......the V was back under the crest by popular Cadillac owners demand ....FYI

Doesn't really matter who's got the biggest every Cadillac is a beautiful car even the crappy Citroen 2.8

'71s did not have 375 hp. '68-'70 did. For '71 the compression ratios were lowered quite a lot, for running on low lead regular. This car's SAE gross rating was 330 hp.

Not the largest GM engine ever.... Cadillac 500 CI was larger
@hoedemakerbart8 жыл бұрын
yes indeed the 500 but it was down on hp in stock form
@allenblackman14598 жыл бұрын
The 500 was just a stroked version of the 472, about 0.250 more. Pistons were different comp. ht. also

Todd Martin if you listen closely,the Narrator said "Largest engine made to date", referring to when the car was built it was the largest displacement engine up to THAT time, he didn't say all time
@toddmartin85988 жыл бұрын
When this car was built, the 500 was already in production
@dmcnamara98597 жыл бұрын
472 and 500 were all new for 1968,it was the new Big Block Caddy "501" engine. In case you did not know, the V8 versions were modular to its much larger sibling...as the Original engine option was to be its 12 cylinder and 12Litre in Displacement to put Ford on notice who was in control of the Big Block Wars. Unfortunately, the EPA and the OPEC Crisis hit, and the V12 option was never given the green light....but more than a few were built for endurance and reliability....1 sits in GMs Museum. Ever wonder why so much room exist between the back of the block and firewall?................V12 baby!

Engine sounds strong but at idle you can hear a metallic raspy noise. Sound like a bearing in the alternator, AC compressor, water pump ect. What was that sound guys? My 472 you can barley hear it with a scope. :D

Wrong mrhawk1924, I bought one of these for my 21st birthday - mine was EXACTLY like this one: same color, same interior (leather and brocade), same halo white vinyl roof.
