He would have been able to cure a few patients but with his teachings about life, bringing clarity of the mind, maybe he's trying to do good to the society in more ways than his practice of medicine could have brought. Do you really thing such a capable guy would have been afraid of such petty issues like raising a family or not being able to handle a break-up or something which almost every layman (even animals) in this world is capable of doing? Study about this guy, what's his trying to do, what are his intentions, how much of it has he achieved, why did he give up on comforts exactly before trying to make presumptions. Just saying. People who are weak, who are tired of continuing the battle of life strengthen their beliefs. They are also privileged in many aspects of society.

@@sidsonihere Thanks for your analysis and arguments. I don't have problem with one's personal choice. But, my point is that those who give up family or sex life for the sake of being monks shouldn't be considered superior to those who lead the lives of common men and women. A doctor or a singer is no way inferior to this gentleman. It's not easy to run a family successfully, whether it is large or small. In my personal experience I have seen a number of monks of the Ramakrishna Mission who do nothing, but get along with the life of luxury. I don't know where the money comes from, but many monks of all orders don't hesitate to enjoy them. What good do they bring to society?
