The rudra vina. One of the oldest instruments, used almost exclusively for playing dhrupad, the oldest surviving form of Indian classical music. The Dagar family have their own modifications to the instrument which renders it too heavy to play over the shoulder and forces them to play in the manner you see in the picture.
