Hi, I am currently studying for marine engineer (engine department). I find tugs and other specialised vessels like anchor handling very interesting, could you give me any advice how to approach to get a job in this type of vessel? Thank you very much for your answer in advance.

@@legopirat17 Hello, sorry I have just seen your reply. I am not entirely sure how you would go about getting a position on these vessels. The vast majority of folk we come across are company employees with the occasional agency member thrown in if crew are short. I have seen a post for ABs for ATL(Atlantic Towing Limited) who were looking for crews for the Atlantic Merlin vessel. I working for an Mooring & position company hence why I post about different vessels on social media. All the best in your search and sorry I can't be much help. TA

I wonder if they have sensible financing for the average working stiff to buy a boat like this? Some type of rent to own? I have no current or anticipated need for any of its apparent capabilities - but it looks extremely interesting just to hit the Button’s and switches!!

Yeah I get you, and this video should be longer to explain that. Here is my explanation of it. FiFi = (Fire Fighting) Fire fighting (External Fire Fighting system to fight fire with huge water cannons on land/other Vessels/Oil Platform) NOFO = (Norsk Oljevernforening For Operatørselskap) Able to combat oil spillage/contamination. Vessel is built to support equipments to stop/prevent oil spill catastrophe SPS Code (Special Purpose Ship) = A ship that is special enough to carry more than 12 special personnel. Meaning the vessel is special enough to require 12 or more people to operate MLC 2006 = Is about the requirement of wellbeing of staff and passengers on board a ship. The cabins and facilities and work hours among other requirements must be within the requirements of MLC 2006. All ships must follow this DNV = De Norske Veritas (Ship Classing Firm) ROV = Remote Operating Vehicle (Vehicles that are submerged to the bottom sea floor and being controlled and monitored from the vessel) Heave compensation = Cranes and ROV can be Heave compansationed. This allow the winch on the Crane/ROV wire to be compensated of the heave of the vessel (The vessel going up and down due to waves) such as the end of the crane wire / ROV not being moved up and down due to the vessel movement. SCR (Selective catalytic reduction) = To reduce Nox (Nitrous Oxide) when burning Diesel Fuel. Hybrid Machinery Installation means Diesel/Gas(LNG) fuel engines provides electric power through generators to power electric propulsion and thrusters (Diesel-Electric) while at the same time can provide their power directy to a propeller without any electric motors (Diesel Mechanical Mode) Or both at the same time. (Hybrid)

One smart looking vessel. Is there a large switch towards LED in maritime given the energy savings?
