RM wrote this before going into the military, but I think you're right about the theme of disassociation. My interpretation is that it's about having lost a part of one's self (in this case, not from the trauma of military service, but from the intense experience of being a k-pop star for the last decade), and needing to reconnect with that part of himself (represented by the woman he meets halfway through the video) in order to be whole enough to be able to appreciate (and not disassociate from) all the potential roles and relationships in his life (child, friend, boyfriend, father). This whole album, Right Place, Wrong Person, seems to be about his experience trying to live a fuller personal life since BTS went on break, and how overwhelming, confusing, and sometimes rewarding it has been for him.

OMG I can totally get that! The short hair threw me in to thinking he might be out of the service. I’ve been a bit preoccupied with life these past few weeks to keep up with who’s coming out when. I think your analysis is spot on!!!

@@ReactionsThatRock He went in last December and has a year left to go. He went into the military band and is playing the sax now. Jin just got out last month and Hobi (j-hope) will be back in October. The other 5 return in summer 2025.

For me the song is about his creativity and the women in the mv represent it. He always talked about the pain of creating, while on the other hand it's his passion. He struggled a lot in the past, because of the fame of BTS. During the break now he found his creativity again in himself and made peace with the past. This way he could finally open this door to get out into the real world, where he is free and can be who he is. 💜

OOOH! I LOVE this!!! I've had a few musician friends that wrote songs for national artists and REALLY struggled with the creative side because it was their artistic expression... then the big name singer would get the song and change up so much that it hardly seemed like the same song. My friend would have a hard time with that. Being a musician is NOT always limos and champagne!

This whole album, Right Place, Wrong Person, is another masterpiece from RM. Rolling Stone and Billboard are both calling it one of the best albums of the year. Experimental, varied, and as raw and honest as any of BTS' work. This is his fourth album as a soloist, following the self-titled RM (2015), Mono (2018) and Indigo (2022) - all amazing and all very different. Wildflower, which you reacted to, was from Indigo.

Indigo is great. I’ve got the CD and listen to it regularly. I actually have this CD too but I haven’t opened it yet. I really want to do one more solo song before I crack the seal! 🤷‍♂️🤩

This whole album is just fantastic musically. I would highly recommend listening to it. It's one of those albums that you just have to listen to in order because everything flows together seemlessly.

Just wondering what you think of the standard packaging and inclusions that really add value to buying a physical album. edit: so I loop it back to OP without hijacking this thread - the physical albums themselves are often a seamless part of the concept.

Glad you enjoyed it. Good point about the dissociation. I deal with PTSD and often “lose track” of hours at a time so I felt a connection to the lyrics and to certain elements of the MV. Overall I find the song very comforting. I hope RM feels comforted too now after working on this album (he got a LOT off his chest!) and that whatever internal turmoil he was addressing has settled/resolved itself.

I'm sorry for your PTSD and whatever trauma brought it to you. I have a lot of friends who have gone through hell and I wouldn't wish that upon anyone. That said, I really enjoyed this... although sooner or later I think I'm going to have to check out some of his Rap Monster songs. :-)

Glad to see you back and doing well, Seth. You picked a good song to come back with. RM’s whole album is such a vibe, even while he’s singing about things close to him and how’s he’s felt/is feeling. Even if you don’t react to all the songs, give the album a listen through on your own. I think you’ll like it.

Thanks so much! Had the wind taken out of my sails for a bit... but I'm back and agree I picked a good song. This was not at all the vibe I thought I was getting (I'd have expected this from V) but I really did enjoy it! I also saw he's got a few more videos that came out in recent weeks so I'll have to check another one out and then maybe check out the rest by myself.... or here... who knows. :-)

Thank you! Doing as best as I can. I’ve made efforts not to turn this channel in to my own sad pity party. We’d known it was coming just had no clue on the timeline. Amazingly, it was as peaceful as it could be and all the right pieces fell in to place in all the right ways to mitigate the emotional damage. I work from home and we have no kids so these pups are literally our world. 🥹 I’ve seen so many new RM songs and have heard about the JK tune on its way (which an old industry friend says he’s heard and it’s both sweet and a real banger!). I’m thrilled to be back at this. Oddly, it’s been therapeutic for me in many ways. I think finally listening to happy upbeat music is having a positive impact!!! 💜🤷‍♂️

@@Shire3366. there may come a time when I do a reaction video to life 🤣 I imagine it’ll get about 25 views but truth be told… it’d be more for me than for an audience anyway. Regardless, I learned from another older channel not to stray too far from the theme of the channel. You’re not wrong about BTS though. I’ve been in a miserable funk and happy music just seems soooo right for me right now. Although I do still have Five Finger Death Punch on my Pandora when the need arises. 🤣😂💜
