You can tell there was absolutely NO preparations done for their interviews and it was always the exact same questions in every single interview. Radio Disney did a better time interviewing them than any of the other interviewers with the exception of Ellen.

It's not just that they're tailoring to their audience. Those interviewers did little to no research on BTS before asking these questions over and over and the Hollywood crush thing? Really? Even Liam McEwan who works for J-14 didn't ask that question and was actually interested in who they were as artists. There's less than a handful of good interviews of the dozens they've done here since the BBMAs and the AMAs; that's how bad it was. How annoying and uncomfortable it must be to be asked the same dumb questions over and over again in a country foreign to them.

You should watch Zach Sang interviewing BTS, then you'd know what good interview questions are and what not. At first the repetetive questions didn't bother me as much, but at some point it got so annoying and I started to feel so uneasy for them. You could tell that most of the interviewers didn't do any research and basically thought of BTS as little exotic Korean boys who FINALLY made it to big important America and wanted to talk to them about the big important American people. Instead of asking them more individual questions, so that people who don't know them yet get to know more about their work and their music, they asked about celebrity crushes etc.. When Zach Sang asked them about their UNICEF campaign, they were so happy. RM even thanked him for asking about it, bc he was the only one who did. They were also really happy when Zach told them to never stop making songs in Korean, while others pressured them to do more English stuff. It was kinda heart breaking to see them getting so happy about questions that should've been the standard questions all along. Oh, and I think you weren't as bothered as you seemed about the "Jin being gay" part, right? :D Love and acceptance! :) EDIT: Nonetheless, I really enjoyed your reaction!! Don't get me wrong, I just wanted to get this off my chest :D And I'd also recommend part 2, it's even better :)

I didn't want this video to end 😂 It's good seeing Dylan laugh! BTW you're right that they needed to ask stuff that American non-fans were wondering, it makes sense. I think we were just used to unusual, witty Korean interviews and forgot that literally all American interviews with celebs are like this. But those collab questions turned out to be SO helpful because it was passed around and eventually reached the celebrities themselves who are now following BTS on Twitter and wanting to meet with them.

That video has its good points, but a lot of it has misinformation or lots of exaggerations. For instance, Jimin has even stated that he's doing a lot better now and that video didn't really clear it up well enough.

Anyways, regarding the questions in the interviews at the end of the video, I’d just want to write down my views: True, the interviewers would try to cater to their American audience, and such questions about celebrity crushes/ inspirations and anticipated collaborations are common with Western artists well, but I think most of us ARMYs just wanted BTS to get as much coverage about who they are as musical artists out instead... considering how they’re foreign artists who aren’t guaranteed much more screen time to be made known to the Western mainstream until who knows when, most of us wanted people to be able to at least learn a bit more about their music, lyrics, and personal goals in those short interviews-though admittedly, those aren’t common much in most celebrity interviews. I liked the lighthearted questions, but after a while, they became really repetitive and tiresome to watch? It’s just that, with how many different interviews there were, you would expect more variety in order to compete, but they covered many similar questions that didn’t provide any insight into really getting to know the members besides small details.

There are (2) interview that's good. I think it's with Zach and BTS with the MASS Zach asks smart and not stupid guestions. He is considerate and has done his research The MASS is just so so funny and you can see that they (BTS) are having so much fun. They even said it was the best interview and that they loved it (I've never seen them that happy at an interview)

I think the reason why the thing about American artists was in this video is that 95% of the interviewers asked the exact same fucking questions over and over. ARMYs were really frustrated because if the interviewers had done a 10 minute Google search, they could have found out the answer to all those questions and come up with more interesting ones or presented it in a different way. It was almost insulting that these interviewers had clearly done no research at all. Also, if they had done their research they would have known that BTS had already collaborated with many artists. RM has collaborated with Warren G, Krizz Kaliko and Wale and at the time of those interviews, BTS had collaborated with the Chainsmokers, Designer and Steve Aoki.

I think the cringe part was not so much the asking who they'd want to collab with (though that probably did get tiresome after the 950,000th time) but that none of these reporters seemed to have taken the time to learn a single thing about BTS so all their questions had very paternalistic America-centric overtones that came off like 'oh you little Korean boys must be so excited to be here, feel free to gush about how wonderful America is and everything in it!' Like... ask them what inspires their music. What stories they want to tell. What they would like to do with their platform now that their popularity is so global. Ask them if they feel any pressure about representing their culture in a place where people aren't familiar with Korean artists. Ask them if they have a favorite song to perform and why - give them a chance to speak about themselves and tell the people who THEY are, instead of directing all the questions to have them hype up America. I mean, honestly, I get it. The American interviewers were suddenly faced with seven Korean guys they knew NOTHING about but were suddenly a huge thing and they had limited time and limited communication to ask them stuff, so I *get* the shallowness of the interviews could hardly be helped, especially on like the red carpet where there's 100 celebrities to get through or news segments where you have like 2 minutes. But it was still cringey af to watch. XD The Zach Sang interview was the best one, Mario Lopez was half cringe half okay, and BTS with The Mess was silly and fun. Ellen - I'd hoped for better but like I said, I get it. They'll get better next time when people have had time to learn more about them. ... sorry for the novel. I had some FEELINGS about this issue.

Yeah, we understand that they need to cater to their country's audience, but it just got so frustrating seeing the Same questions over and over and over. And asking them to produce a whole album in English made me mad. Like, true ARMY don't want that. We love BTS BECAUSE they're Korean and sing Korean. They're fans of American artists, but I'm sure they wouldn't want them to change and produce albums in Korean. Instead, BTS know English and are learning English (and some ARMY, like me are learning Korean) to better understand them. 😊 But the who inspired you one was also pretty spot on because even in their debut days, RM and Suga talked about American rappers who influenced and inspired them. And I think Suga said once that the first album he ever purchased was Eminem's greatest hits. So that question wasn't too outlandish.
