Did Black Bear 3 years ago on an 800GS with a few friends. One of which said that Black Bear "wasn't too bad". The ride up to the Tundra was great. The short steep ledge downhill section made us all stop at the top then decide to ride each bike down with the bike off and using clutch and front brake while everyone else spotted them. Not as heroic but we got down without injury or damage. The view is amazing. Nice video. Looks like you guys have a blast on these rides.

I just got back from a two week trip, I spent a week in Silverton/Ouray/Telluride and loved every minute of it. And yes I road my Africa Twin down Black Bear Pass. I was told not to take an adventure bike down it, but I like a challenge! Was it sketchy? Yes! But I had to give it a go or I would never know if it could be done. :-) I definitely want to go back!

You guys pulling out of Ouray is rubbing in the fact that my wife and I had to cut our 8-day vacation out the last week short due to the derecho storm that blew through Iowa. Kind of like the tornado did that blew through my hometown two years ago while we were just outside of Netherland CO. We're not allowed to go to Colorado in August. So far Moab in October has proven to be uneventful here while we're gone.

michael ludeke I would do it again.. I wish I could turn off the front ABS On the steps both tires are touching the edge of steps at the same time and feels like it doesn’t want to stop. I took it slower than I thought I would because of it. I lost my balance on one of the first steps and it threw me to the left so I stopped and the rest of the way I paddled and never got back up on pegs. I’d like to do it again faster and stay on the pegs.

Great video!!! I’m trying to decide between a honda XR650L or KLR650. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I would like to do the trial from Mexico to Canada. I know the Honda XR650L is better suited for off road technical trials. Is the majority of the trail well maintained and better suited for the KLR? or more rugged in which case the XR may be better? Which would you prefer for the entire trial?
@rmatvmc4 жыл бұрын
you nailed it. KLR is better on the road and the XR is better off. I don't know what trails you will be riding. We had an XR for a while. It got worse gas mileage than the klr, so you may want to consider that as well. - Justin

If you take the 1250 don’t do it alone and you better be a very experienced off-road on a big bike. I did it on an Africa Twin with MotoZ Desert H/T tires but you would be much happier on a smaller bike.
