Only thing I would add to your guide is to test the components after receiving them prior to cleaning. That way you can be sure you didn't break something during the cleaning process.

G'day Dave, Hit the mark here, I feel this is the most important point for 'Used Parts Build' videos, yet is missed in nearly every one of them, Just like new parts if it is a full build do a pre-case test of all the parts, if you are just upgrading Install the Driver then run a test like Heaven for GPUs or Cinebench for CPUs & Motherboards

In general this is a pretty good basic guide. However, I can't believe how he glossed over the fact that most office PCs today have proprietary connections for the power supply which means you can't just throw a standard ATX PSU in there and hope it will work. Quite a big oversight in this video really.

Hey can u explained it further? Is there any other things to consider turning builtup office pcs into gaming? Maybe the motherboard component (vrm, capacitor) not strong enough for gaming? Or maybe it has different connection with consumer motherboard? Thank you

Like to watch videos like that from time to time. I myself did twice a "Dell Optiplex conversion to gaming PC" my firs time was with OptiPlex 7020SFF - Haswell based system. gave it 4x4GB 1600mhz ram, for the cpu i kicked out an old i3-4130 and placed there a Xeon E3-1230v3 (almost like a undervolted i7-4770) and for an GPU u gave it an GTX 1650 GDDR6 from Zotac. And for a small touch, replaced both cpu and front fan, into 80mm units from Arctic what a amazing pc it was :D

Tip: look for office PC's with 4 RAM slots on the motherboard if you want 16 GB. It's much cheaper to buy addional 4 GB RAM sticks then 8 GB RAM sticks. Because there are lots of 2 RAM slot motherboards the 8 GB RAM sticks are in higher demand.

Great video. A problem in the PC community is that everyone thinks you have to spend so much money just to get started. People will laugh at you and your budget, and say it is not possible.
@therealwhite6 ай бұрын
That's when you stop caring about what said people say :) People spend a bunch of money (which in itself is fine) and then go dunk on someone to feel special. It's completely ignorable when you know what you enjoy but people starting out don't have the experience to know, hey I don't care about high settings or goofy monitors or 120fps or whatever. Those things are better on paper but people forget that "good enough" exists and beyond that point it gets hard to practically justify an upgrade. Also, worrying about image quality detracts from the actual experience of playing the games, and unless you're uptight about it (which is again fine) you can lower settings in a modern game and usually it'll still look pretty good. If you can even bother with current releases anymore, gee whiz. I can't so I stick with a ryzen APU mini PC because it plays everything I want how I want. It's not for everyone but $465 for a 680m is not bad, neither is $200 for a Vega 8 and ryzen 5. You just gotta learn about yourself enough to know what you need, and then you can decide whether you need a $500 or a $5000 PC... Or a steam deck. That's a curse word though I might have summoned the demon who's name starts with Ally

They make adapter for the motherboard so I plan to case swap it soon. A lot of the boards have proprietary connectors so you can't use the front panel if you had a different case. Nice guide, however I have two things to say: 1. imo a GTX 970/1063/1066 are going to be better choices over the 1050 Ti and GTX 960 4GB, especially when compared to the AMD offering. 2. The USB 3 point is kinda flawed. You might end up buying a bad AMD APU system over something with Sandy Bridge cuz of it.
