My summer employment for grade 7 and 8 was raked blueberries in Oxford, Nova Scotia at 7 cents a pounds.

Wild blueberries are the best. When they're small, they're tart and delicious.

As a vegan that eats a lot of fruit, I was thinking the same thing about the blueberry stairway to heaven! I picked blueberries over the summer for my stash, (about 25lbs). I loved doing it. I was so slow though. Prolly only would have made $2 an hour if I was picking for the farm. Ha ha!

And I thought Sudbury had a lot of wild blueberries! But in Nova Scotia, do you have to brave the chance upon being devoured by a bear while picking the small patches over the Canadian Shield? I don't think so! 🤣

Is that RMR Chapman's ice cream an actual thing you can buy? Because I would totally get some if I could!

Why are the blueberry bushes so small? The ones I remember picking from, admittedly when I was like 7-9 at Camp Pembina in QC were much bigger. Of course, they weren't on a blueberry farm either. Just smack in the middle of a small section of woods

You mean our bigger, juicier sweeter BC blueberries? That can fill up a 4L ice cream pail in one bush? hmm...
@LAJones-kr5py9 жыл бұрын
RainAngel111 Hate to tell you but the low bush wild blue berries from the maritimes are prefered by bakeries due to the fact they have more taste then your big culitvated BC berries.

Tried blueberries from other parts of Canada and the US... Not even close to wild low bush blueberries in Nova Scotia - they are the sweetest and most flavourful, by far. Having lived in Oxford, NS and my family still owns land for blueberry farming, it's good to see such a vibrant demand for this variety of blueberry!

I live in nova scotia, so why are blueberries so darned expensive?
@mattmax119 жыл бұрын
Because your paying for the farmers labour.
@AozoraUltra20068 жыл бұрын
+Joshua Pearce my family lives in China, China makes everything, and everything is still damn expensive for them. Almost nothing is cheaper in the place something is made, because they are not going to drop the price of a valuable good. Why sell it for cheap when people will still buy it for much more
@WeldingPat4 жыл бұрын
It's not because you're paying for the farmers labor lmao. You know how much they pay these guys? If at all xD
