RMS "RE" EVOLVE FOUNDATION: HONEST REVIEW

The rather unique thing about the old RMS cream foundation is that you can get really heavy coverage from it, which is not something that many cleaner brands offer even now. I suggested to a friend that she try it as stage makeup for a ballet production and she said it was terrific for that - that it offered the coverage that was expected and held up great even though she was sweating and looked lovely and didn't irritate her face at all. And I have another friend who usually wears medium coverage premuim makeup (e.g. Chanel Les Beiges) who has been experimenting with the RMS cream, and she said that after some trial and error she really likes it and is going to buy a whole jar. The one thing about it is that you pretty much have to apply it with a damp sponge to get it to sink into the face, since otherwise it does just sit like a lump on top of the skin and takes hours to sink in (if it ever does). But with the damp sponge trick, it actually provides smooth, pretty, long-lasting and remarkably natural coverage (including full coverage if you want it), at least for me and some other people. That is not appealing to me since I only want to wear the lightest possible foundation (if any), and I did not see your original video, but I feel like there is more potential with it, at least for some people, than maybe you are giving it. I just got the RMS liquid yesterday and will give that a try now.

I'm 50 and have dry skin and this foundation works really well for me too! A little goes a really long way! I'm shade 000 which is perfect, for once! That almost never happens as most fair shades are often too pink. This one makes my face (I have redness), finally match my neck (Yeh!!) I apply it with a damp sponge (seems to always work better for me) and I've also used it as a concealer under my eyes and applied as spot concealer and it just worked so well, that I didn't need any other concealer! Really happy with it so far! I also love their blush (Pomegranate Fizz) and it's so gorgeous! On me, it looks similar to the Pat McGrath Divine Blush Duo in Divine Rose II. I don’t understand how that type of packaging is more environmentally conscious. Are there not more parts to recycle eventually, as opposed to eg Fenty Eaze Drops packaging?

Feels like a lot of refillable packaging is like this. The refill tends to be a self contained unit and then you just put it inside another piece of future waste. Seems like green washing.

I think you look younger than 35 for sure to me. ( I am 42 and I remember when I was 35 clearly, I feel like that's a wonderful age, I was feeling really good at the time) I recently bought Rms blush in French rose ( the rosy one you also swatched) and got the cream eyeshadow in color Stobe ( lovely taupe with silver brown and bit of purple in it) I have to say I love the Blush and love the eyeshadow to ( mainly because of the great color). I liked this look you did.

Loved this video (as always). Disappointed that the founder is still prominently featured across the company's social media because while I would love to buy this foundation and believe in the "new RMS," it's impossible with her at the helm (for me). Also loved what you said at the end, if a company is going to be inclusive of everyone's skin then it has to be done from the start with each product, not a promise for tomorrow or never.

I just tried this foundation today too! It looked gorgeous immediately after application, but my oily T-zone peeked through within a couple hours... 😑 on the other hand, I LOVE the Eyelights! I have the shade Spark too, I took a nap in it in hot weather and it didn't crease one bit

I mixed RMS Re-Evolve with Danessa Myrick Yummy Skin Glow Serum and I really liked how it made the foundation not as heavy for me. It seemed kind of flat so I used Tarte Marajuca Juicy blush in Coconut and that really glowed it up. @Kackie please review the Tarte Juicy blushes-I like them way better than Jones Rd. Miracle Balms. I just tried putting the RMS cream foundation on one side of my face and the RMS liquid on the other side, using a damp sponge on both sides. And I would say that the two sides look almost identical to me (and quite different than most other foundations that I have tried). The only difference seems to be that the liquid side is settling a little more into my fine lines, but that might just be because my skin is quite dry and the liquid kind probably does not have as much oil in it. In general, I would guess that that always has been RMS's main target market - women who are 40+ with dry wrinkled skin. And that if those women want to wear heavier coverage (which they usually can't without their wrinkles looking worse), a cream foundation such as the RMS one may work remarkably well for them, in ways that women who are only 30 years old and do not have any wrinkles at all cannot really understand. Which would suggest to me that the foundation is not really a fail, just not one that is intended for you, even now and especially not a few years ago. Maybe the liquid one will have more appeal to younger women. And there certainly is nothing wrong with that, even if it doesn't mean that the previous products were bad and that their only redeeming value was that they were clean. I think there was more to them than that. (I am in a Jones Road FB group for their best customers and I would say that ALL the women in that group are 50+ . So that is something to keep in mind when reviewing those products too, that they may be working great for their intended audience even if they don't seem that great to younger beauty influencers.)

I just received this today in the same shade 00 as part of a QVC today’s special value. We are skin shade twins! It also came with a mascara, living luminizer, and nude toned lip balm. I’m looking forward to trying it tomorrow. I plan on mixing it with a pump of the RMS primer, which I adore, so I appreciate you talking about this in the video to make it more like a tinted moisturizer. I also totally love the maidens blush.

I really like the idea of the foundation but if that is 00 then there isn’t a shade light enough. I feel like most foundations are not light enough just as they are not dark enough. But they absolutely neglected the dark shades more than the light/medium.

I’m confused… Does this foundation have light reflecting qualities like the Laura Mercier one that you spoke of because I need that with my sixty-year-old skin. I may l want this but I like a little bit of lit from within but not look greasy because I tried that look for a while and finally said why am I doing this. I kind of got from when you were applying it that was more matte so I am thinking about buying this, but I just need to know.

It's really matte. You will need something to glow/highlight in order for it not to appear masky.

I just received the foundation in the QVC TSV and it is terrible on my skin. It is too thick and concentrated. It did not blend well with a brush and even with the beauty blender you could see bits of dead skin (using actives and peeling, at the moment.) So, I washed my face, exfoliated and moisturized and started over. This time, I diluted it with less than a pea-sized amount with CT Hollywood flawless filter and it was not pretty. It still clung onto some dry bits. I used the color 11.5 which is just too warm for my neutral skin tone. What a disappointment!

I'm sorry that foundation shade range is absolutely horrid. 3/4 of the categories are light. The last shade is giving ash. Words "light" and "dark" are very perspective, and to me, 3/4 of those skin tones are very light to light skin. Those tan shades really only go to like self tanner level deep, which is not deep. No hate just disappointment lol.

I'm not sure how clean this is? Typically clean brand, but it seems to have a lot more ingredients than they used to use. I ran it through EWG and probably won't be buying, even though I like the way it sits on my skin.
