Love it! I’ll play that song 3 times in a row, that’s my ish! I went crazy in July when CB performed it, I know my friends probably thought I was crazy although they kno I already am 😂💜

I think the question of ‘who’s at fault if the record isn’t a hit’ is actually a trick question. The truth is everyone is partly to blame but a true champion producer or a producer who truly wants to achieve excellence would say they themselves are to blame. It shows the mind of someone who’s striving to not only be the best they can be but just the best in general. It’s GOAT mentality.

On the Diane Warren scenario w/Tank … that is a technicality because Tank in that capacity is “programming” around an idea that was pre existing . It’s more a “work for hire” situation where Tank is in theory acting as a session musician no different than a person being hired to play guitar, or a session drummer , bassist etc … it’s not “Producing” because he’s not overseeing the song . He doesn’t get a final say over what stays and what goes . He would defer to Diane or whoever the “Producer” is . That said, Diane could choose to share her publishing if she wanted lol

On the Quincy Jones comparison (I understand what the guys are TRYING to say) the important distinction between Quincy and those who try to compare to his production methods is that QUINCY could transcribe music for the instrument itself and arrange them . The music is still coming from HIM. Meaning if you’re a horn player , he wrote out what you should play and when , same for other instrument groups . That’s a huge difference than a person who hires a producer who can make the track themselves already. Quincy is still programming, he’s just not using a machine … he’s using humans . Hitmaka isnt telling Cardiak how to program drums or Mike Woods how to play a chord progression . You have to have an original idea to communicate to the musician that is unique to you .
