Rossini’s religious sentiments are expressed in this music with the words from the mass sung in Latin by this magnificent choir and soloists. The Russian National Orchestra performs wonderfully well. The soloists and conductor understand this music especially the “ Agnus Dei” sung by the tenor.

Al contrario de lo que expresa un anterior comentarista el tenor no da una sola nota en el pasaje del Agnus Dei siendo la mezzosoprano quien lo interpreta en su integridad,formidablemente por cierto:Brava!!!

The orchestral version is the one Rossini never wanted. He just wrote it so no one else does. And he decreed that it would never be performed before his death.

I enjoyed this very good performance though I usually prefer listening to the 2 pianos + harmonium version.
