Mechanical Concrete® is a breakthrough, patent protected, construction technology. It utilizes a cylinder made from waste auto tires to confine and integrate crushed stone, or other natural and recycled aggregates, into a permanent stone building unit. The result is a strong, economical construction and maintenance product for low volume roads.
Nearly all road problems come from base failures. The Mechanical Concrete® with tire-derived-cylinders economically creates a virtually indestructible base so it virtually eliminates most low volume road problems, including:
Potholes
Ruts
Ditch Collapse
Shoulder Erosion
Soft Sub-grade failures
Ditch Scour
Edge of Road Slips and Slides
Engineering Specs
Mechanical Concrete® offers a minimum 200 pounds per square inch (14.4 tons per square foot) working strength. Its load bearing capacity is limited primarily by the subgrade conditions. On average 10 to 12 typical size auto tires can create one cubic yard of Mechanical Concrete® and 12,000 tire-derived-cylinders create one 12 foot lane mile.

you might manage to reduce even more if you granulate the tire walls and add them to the mix

The tyre walls would be flexible causing movement in the aggregate mix whenever a vehicle goes over it causing wear, so doesn't sound like a great idea.

The idea is to have a wrap over sectional plates to hold the aggregate together

this is a brilliant idea if you are not to replace the concreted raod, but if repair must be done every 10 years what would happen with the tires?

What is the tool you are using to connect the tires? I tried zip ties but it is way too slow. A pneumatic tool is required for any volume.
@tinytick
@tinytick 3 жыл бұрын
Well ideally you don’t have to connect it together it’s better to have space between around 5 inch or more for flexibility but you could screw it together either way.

How about using Angle Grinder and grind this tires into small particles. Spray them on pavement adhesive that is painted on you driveway, rolling pressing them a little bit so they sink into the adhesive. Let them cured and hardened as shell.

My original thinking was to cutting the old tires into small 1cm cubes or chunks and then relatively, evenly springle them on top of a one inch thick newly poured cement concrete, tab the surface flat so that all chunks are half way sink onto the cement. After the cement dried, spray or paint pavement adhesive on it and wait for it to cure again.

What type of behavior of concrete if rubber tyres are placed below the of concrete road pavement it can increase its vibration resisting properties..can it is possible or not I am student of civil engineering..so give information about that.

You're putting gravel in the tires so it doesn't impact the pavement.

A void near the top sidewall. This technique is amazing. I did this 10 years ago to a half mile driveway on MUD. pure swamp. Still looks brand new today. Heavy loads and logging trucks never affected it.

Don’t know the exact number. concrete should last up to 100 years if it's properly cared for. Concrete projects that experience more wear-and-tear like sidewalks and driveways have an expected lifespan of about half that-50 years.
