Again at 3:50 is one of my favourites, I have the sheet music and use to play it over and over. I like the way she is clearly taking off Marlene Dietrich the second time.

Ida Lupino is perfect. She's so sad. Its true, "She does more without a voice than anybody I've ever heard!" I've had her version of One For My Baby running through my head since I first saw this film. Thanks for posting.

I first saw this movie in 1956 on Million Dollar Theater while spending the night with my 89 year old grandfather--he had a metal Firestone TV with rabbit ears. The final chase through the woods scared me to death, but it was fun and I always wanted to see it again. It was almost 30 years before it was shown on TV again.

Million Dollar Theater that takes me back. Thanks.

@thedogs2 Nicely said. And don't forget that Ida Lupino was a serious director, too. She and Widmark needed more scenes together in this film, even if the ending was the same.

@acfinney Yes, those memories are priceless! I think the movie is out on DVD now, too.

OHMYGOD, I saw it, and was in heaven. Lupino was a great friend of Ann Sheridan off the screen, and also of another hottie, Joan Fontaine. Lupino really burned up the screen in this gem. Check out the end of "On Dangerous Ground," where the tiny Ida nearly collars the huge Robert Ryan. Talk about heat...

Anyone who could make you believe that...is a damn good actress.

Check out Ida in her impromptu scarf bathing suit in this film. What a knockout!

Well that solves another question--I always thought Million Dollar Theater was the name for a local movie program, so it must have been national! Thanks!

Now your talking. Barbara Stanwyck can do no wrong. I think she was the greatest ever. She and Katharine Hepburn, were my favorites, since I was 18 years old. And that was 65 years ago.

love it! would you be able to get her singing "again" by lionel newman and dorcas cochran? anyway, thank you for sharing all this good stuff. ;-)

I have noticed that there are two classic actresses who are extremely hot and passionate in love scenes. One was Ann Sheridan, the other was Ida.Notice how she just about melts Humphrey Bogart in "High Sierra," and practically anihilates Robert Ryan at the end of "On Dangerous Ground." Wonder how many retakes she asked for... and how many the guys asked for, as they all seemed to having a perfectly wonderful time. :-)

@thedogs2 P.S. Ann Sheridan was wonderful. But I've sometimes wondered if the movie could have lasted more than 20 minutes if Barbara Stanwyck had been pitched against Richard Widmark. Short subject, indeed.

Actually she referred to herself as the poor man's Bette Davis...not Joan Crawford...however...poppycock! Ida was every bit as forceful and hypnotic when given the chance, aside from that a hotter babe than either B.D. or J.C.
