Road king 1st time Custom Paint job in a garage

My 2002 Road King needed some help standing out. I have always wanted to try my hand at custom paint. So, I ordered some candy paint and watched hours of KZbin and this is what I came up with. It's far from perfect but at least its not another black Harley.

Excellent job! If I can ever bring myself to repaint my Road King, I won't be putting any of the logos back on it & just do some graphic design where they go... looks more outlaw to me to not have names or logos... I'm conflicted about it though, because I bought mine as a pristine survivor bike with only 12,500 miles on it & it was stored in a climate controlled garage for the first 19 years of it's life, so it's difficult for me to change it too much... I've made a few mild changes to it, but nothing too radical & the milage is much higher now, but still looks very close to how it looked when I bought it... I'd love to do a candy red over gold metal flake, (the big chunky bass boat type of flake) & pinstripe some gold leaf flames on it with skulls all over it, but that factory paint is still so awesome that I just can't bear to strip it... it's Lazer Red Pearl now, so not too disappointed with that, & its still such a nice looking bike... but I do have a Honda chop project that will be getting some candy green over flake with some flames & skulls as a companion bike to the truck I'm building...

Wow , yeah that sounds like a nice bike. You could keep the king stock ish.... And do the wild paint in the Honda! That sounds cool!!!

Oh, it is... very nice... I gotta reupload the videos I made of it...took them down a couple months ago after KZbin had pissed me off one time too many & was gonna just delete all my vids so they couldn't continue to make money off of my efforts while I get nothing, but one person can't really hurt them, & what little they would see from my videos is just a pittance compared to the multiple millions they're raking in with or without my few little vids, so I guess at some point I need to get it started back up... still got several videos up, but I think I took all the Road King vids down, but I'll get them reloaded soon...

Nice! How did you do the cruise control? Or what kit did you use?

Great question, I have not gotten it to work yet but I will let you know what I did so far. I ordered the clam shells and cruise control box from a stock 2003 Electra glide on eBay My road King had plugs to plug it all straight into the factory harness. this is a standalone cruise control system Harley made before they were wired into the computer. I have everything working with the exception of the electronic cruise control box(throttle pull) I believe I may have gotten a faulty one as they're all used and it's a shot in the dark ordering off eBay. I plan to go back on eBay and order another box and hopefully find a good one.
