To the people who are questioning the actions of the military in this game to stop you. It is implied through the story that your current city is under quarantine... which means the rest of the world is still uninfected. You escaping literally risks the rest of the world getting infected. One of the quotes in game supports this by saying that they need to prevent the infection from going state-wide, and that they have already eliminated others who tried to do it (your attempts as the player which failed).

I always felt these games captured the complete chaos of a zombie outbreak better than most media. Like an insanely violent and bloody riot with infected and panicking civilians alike moving among a mostly intact cityscape. Meanwhile, the military scattered throughout trying to get a hold on things. The stronger infected along with the hordes actually posing a "realistic" threat to them. On top of that, John is just as susceptable as the rest of the people you see, he just has his car to help him.

There's something so tragic about the delivery of lines in that final stretch, my honest favourite example was the line between command and this soldier at 23:34. Having the foresight to see how long YOU have left to get out and the time it'd take for that transport mentioned to arrive was genius storytelling. It's hard to believe this is nearly 10 years old man, it's wild.

@@Kerim9991the river wasn’t overrun, most military forces were there or headed there: it would’ve been the most defended place in range of evans city for a bit. what’s even more fucked up is that the transports were there, and probably taking in men too: but weren’t allowed to take off since sherman wanted a "synchronized retreat". meaning that as soon as that bomb fell, those soldiers thought they were gonna make it home, they WERE going to make it home. but was sacrificed for a moot cause..

Actually, the city is in a very tight quarantine. Meaning, the rest of the world is uncontaminated. With him trying to escape, and with the military completely in decent control of the situation, he alone is making the situation worse by escaping, and bringing the disease outside the world. There is also a hint that the military has killed off people who tried (with those people being your past attempts). Meaning, with you thrashing their walls, running through obstacles, you are making it worse for them. There's also a perspective, in the military, everything only got worse after you escaped.

Flash games back at 2010 were done with so much passion for a game that's on a website along with thousand of others. Even the performance of the voice actors in this game are so passionate that it puts Triple a game developers to shame. Earn to die, Raze 1 and 2, plazma burst, stick wars, swift heads, beat your boss, swords and sandals. i have a few observations 1. the stronger zombies (which i will refer to clingers) will die to a single shot to the head from the protagonists weapon 2. the protags gun seems to be relatively low caliber (unless it's a big iron on his hip idk im not a gun expert) 3. we see in "lab of the dead" that these zombies are not more durable than regular humans, their limbs get blown up easily and these zombies are more intelligent than you might expect (they still retain some humanity) 4. the armies positions only got overwhelmed AFTER a car rammed through the barriers. which leads me to a conclusion: with modern military equipment (basic armor to prevent being bitten automatic guns and air superiority) the military would have easily held their positions and successfully quarantined the city if the protagonist didn't wreck all their outposts. zombies being attracted to the sound of a car ramming into the fences doomed the recently breached checkpoint before it could be repaired. little was known about the infection so the military couldn't just let a potential asymptomatic carrier out of the quarantine.

This is freaking crazy to see, I was playing this a week ago and rage quit because of how difficult it was. I didn’t think it was possible to do a run WITHOUT dying. The skill here is impeccable. I’m almost jealous. Amazing run man, I really enjoyed it. Hopefully I can learn a thing or two and finally beat “the highway to hell.”

In the entire run, he only hit a single civilian because you had no option than to take that guy's life or destroy your car even more (9:18), instead of being a psychopath, you chose to be a guy that wanted to escape the zombies AND the military's nuclear warhead.

Never noticed how the game implies or rather tells only John decided to make a run for it completely armored AND armed meanwhile the other drivers (most likely the cars that are pointed fowards in the high way) either didnt had cars that could handle too much damage or just didnt think that the soldiers/zombies would jump on their cars if they tried to run them over... And that's BEFORE the zombies evolved the licker rip-offs. (they evolve while John is getting throught)

As always, everytime I think Road of the Dead's fandom is well... Dead. This game's fandom always come back like Creaseman. A situation seemingly hopeless, but nonetheless pulled through, escaping the city and lived to fight another day. Good run. (I do wonder if the Devs are interested in making another one, although it has been YEARS.)

something I wanna touch on that maybe I wanna touch on. I the phrase that the radio dispatcher uses specifically "North. Just move North." and now I may be just some lowly part time security supervisor BUT I would NEVER give one of my guys an order similar to that. because do you wanna know what saying something like that gives the impression of? No...well to bad I'm telling you. it gives the impression of panic that the situation isn't under control, which as Security Supervisor (even a part time one) or someone in charge of some type of relief/containment effort you NEVER want to give the impression that you are either A) panicking or B) that the situation is out of your control. this is telling me either one of two things and they ain't exactly exclusive, either A)the military is so desperate for someone to manage the situation regardless of how ready they are for command due to how ravaged they were by the undead and as such most of the chain of command is dead, or B) that the military is desperate for someone in a position of power due the sheer shittines of the situation.

It's even worse than you think In the second game its explained that the mutants Have all these abilities. - 3 times the strength of a regular human - Can run fast enough to catch up to most vehicles. - Can jump 20 feet in the air - Typically hunt in packs of 3-5 - And has an alpha variant which is stronger and tougher in every way. Yup they were screwed to begin with. 😂😂
