Combat ? It's about the most amazing drug you can ever imagine x 10 for usually just a few minutes then sheer boredom waiting on the next contact . I hit 3 IEDs in Iraq and was hit by 1 RPG in Afghanistan. Lot of experts on combat , most have never even seen or heard a shit fired . I spent 54 mo in Iraq and 18 mo in Afghanistan. I miss it everyday. I also hated being there every day . You can never understand that unless you've been in combat .
@pasqualelamperelli63693 жыл бұрын
Easiest way to explain combat: You hate it while you’re there and then miss is every day once it’s all over. Getting shot at or blown up is scary, but it’s much different than you probably think. You do what you need to survive. It’s scary, but you don’t really think about how scary it is (once you’ve seen enough combat). I used to think random thoughts like, “I wonder what my brother is up to tonight”. Another thing, stupid things are funny. During one battle we were completely surrounded and my Sgt. yelled to our Lt., “throw them a soccer ball, they will leave us alone”. My entire team stopped shooting and we all just laughed.

They provided us with some assistance from the USAID organization, including a full bag with its contents of notebooks and pens. It was around 2005 and is still there. I have it until now, but the bad thing I witnessed was an explosion near the school. There was an attack on soldiers, which contributed to random shooting, killing some civilians. I know that the matter happened and ended. Everything remains sad history once you remember that day. 08:27

Great video. thanks for not cutting the footage or putting music over it. I have a few questions, and I'd like to state from the get-go that they are non-judgemental. I was a gunner in afghanistan 10-11. I was in an urban part of afg for a while, then moved up into the mountains. Isolated villages connected by one dirt road/riverbed. Was the complacency shown in this video just the norm because of the urban environment, or just one of those things you noticed in retrospect when watching the video? I'm not talking shit, I'm sure there were many times I would have been like "wtf was i doing?!" If there was a video in my turret. Im just curious why the indicators weren't called out? Again.. I understand the complacency, and cant imagine how hard it was to not become complacent in an urban environment. Also, Im sorry your second to last vehicle didn't wait for you. Everything we learned was taught to us because it was towards the end of the war and most lessons were already learned. I was usually the lead gunner, but we always made sure we heard a "trails up" after moving through a tight corner or some sort of obstacle before speeding up. I cringed a little when I saw the truck in front of you go completely out of sight as he went around a corner numerous times, leaving you guys pretty exposed. I had a few other questions but already forgot lol. Hope you and your guys are doing well now that our wars have ended.

Interesting video (interesting because that's the reality). What was the building at the end of the video with all those flags flying and a satellite dish?
@fishonamission12703 жыл бұрын
Iraqi here , some people especially in the south of Iraq like to raise these flags at the first month of every Islamic year to show solidarity but that's only for Shia Muslims (who occupie the majority of mid to south Iraq and most of Iran and are a minority in Islam). That being said not all Shia Muslims like to hang flags . But due to Shia Muslims being less than 15% of all Muslims that's why you only see these flags in places where it's mainly Shia Muslims so you won't see them in northern Iraq or any other Muslim countries. Hope that was helpful, peace.

@lordofninepaths10 жыл бұрын
Even while not being in the military I was able to determine from what Ranger-guy said that it's operating procedure to distance yourself 300 meters from the bomb site. What this makes me think is that you completely lack basic critical thinking skills or that your judgment is entirely clouded by some misdirected hatred. Also, what qualifies you to distinguish that civilian's innocence or guilt from watching this recording? It was unclear whether anybody was harmed by the blast from the camera's point of view; do you think it's logical to allow a suspected perpetrator to walk free when there might possibly have been several deaths from the incident? "Cowards"... I think cowardice is more akin to lashing out unreasonably from your home computer than to deploying to a dangerous and foreign land in service to your nation, regardless of the merits behind the cause of deployment.

They did that attack because of something that happened in previous history involving the group of people/children sitting there (it at first was considered a pipe bomb attack or something similar). Some people just stare, some people wave, some people shoot, some just walk by. Few explosions here and there. Yep. Just a normal day during the Iraq War. By the way. I'm glad I didn't go to Afghanistan. Fighting inside the city with buildings, alleys, rooftops, and random doors is one thing. Fighting in the freaking mountains. Man shout out to whoever did that.
