I have a 2018 Nismo 7spd auto; got it for under 20k CAD with 71000km on it. Absolutely love it (this coming from a 2022 Stinger). Threw an axle-back exhaust, cold air intake, diverter valve in it right away, as it didn't sound like a "Nismo" should have IMO. The acceleration is ABSOLUTE garbage; threw a Pedal Commander in there and instant fun factor restored. The seats are my absolute fav part. Put about $1000 worth of parts into it and now it's like a Nismo should be. Fantastic little sports car

I own a 2017 Sentra Nismo with the manual transmission. It’s the first car I’ve ever owned in my name, and my previous driver was a standard Sentra with a CVT. I liked the fuel economy and spaciousness of the standard Sentra. I never even drove a manual car in my life until I got this car. Personally, I think aesthetically it’s a very pleasing car. The clutch does catch pretty high and shifting in the first few gears is a little rough (Might be me though lol) but I love this car so far, so we’ll see how it holds up long term. I can see why it might be disappointing for hardcore enthusiasts but I think based on what the Sentra is from a conceptual standpoint Nismo did a good job with what they had to work with. I mean it’s a front wheel drive economy car, what can you really expect them to do as far as performance while still keeping it affordable?

This is the lineup Nissan should've brought to the C17 (G7) Sentra: S-SV-SL 144hp NA-2.0L 6-speed MT or CVT (new engine soon to replace today's 130hp NA-1.8L) SR 188hp T-1.6L CVT (I've actually seen reviews this engine suits best the CVT on the regular Juke, not NisMo as John stated) SE-R 240hp T-2.0L 6-speed MT or 6-speed DCT (shown in a prototype, so they have it) NisMo 300hp T-2.5L 6-speed MT or 6-speed DCT (either torque-limited to 250 lb-ft with FWD or 300 lb-ft w/vectoring AWD) All priced accordingly (SR on the mid U$20K's, SE-R in the lower U$30K's and NisMo in the high U$30K's w/FWD or ~ U$40K w/AWD). If they don't want such a large engine lineup 'cause sedans are "out of favor" lately, then this for her Rogueness (crossovers are the thing nowadays, ya know...): S-SV-SL 177hp NA-2.5L CVT (too low take for a MT) SE-R 240hp T-2.0L 6-speed MT or 6-speed DCT (competing against Kia Sportage SX) NisMo 300hp T-2.5L 6-speed MT or 6-speed DCT (250lb-ft w/FWD or 300 lb-ft w/vectoring AWD) While we're at it, for little windy brother Qashqai (Rogue Sport over here...): S-SV-SL 144hp NA-2.0L CVT (again, too low take for a MT) SR 188hp T-1.6L CVT (as in the Juke, this engine works best w/"whacky tranny")

syxepop yeah i would love to those number in those cars but you gotta remember nissan has infiniti so they would never make a rouge have 300 hp .. 240 would probably be the max .. because that would make the rogue faster than the murano and pathfinder with 300 hp hell even 240 ia enough to edge them out its all marketing i believe
@syxepop7 жыл бұрын
One problem, Infiniti DOESN'T HAVE AN NX (nicer Rav4) COMPETITOR, in fact, they have only one FWD-based crossover and that's the full-sized (Pathfinder was based on it) QX60, so Her Rogueness will have to do for BOTH BRANDS until Infiniti gets a QX40 and that's not in publicly-told plans yet. Also a 300hp Rogue would be priced beyond most Murano and Pathfinders, both being appreciably larger, so I believe there would be very little cross-shopping within Nissan's stable.
@davidmaglioli70487 жыл бұрын
Why does everyone want 300hp in this thing. Thats way too much for a FWD sedan, and before anyone says Civic Type R thats a completely different animal to this thing. The Nismo Sentra is more on par with the Si rather than a Type R. The Type R is $10K more than this is. Its got a way better platform to deal with that much power than this does. This should be around 200-225hp max. Anymore would be ridiculous and price this car even further into the nearly $40k territory of the Type R
@wmc1287 жыл бұрын
nobody understands power to weight ratio; a car that weighs just under 3100 pounds that has that much engine power would be faster than a car that has 500hp but weighs closer to 4000 pounds. 200hp at that weight is a perfect balance.
@Jumperman12mac7 жыл бұрын
This car might as well be a Civic Sport Hatchback competitor since the SR turbo is a Civic Turbo competitor. Makes more sense that way and I've seen the price of the Nismo after rebate being 18k being the lowest. But, there are plenty of aftermarket for this anyways. I would get it and build on it as long as its under 20k

To be honest, I love how simple this Sentra is, compared to its other competitors. Sure, it maybe a riced-out SR Turbo from NISMO, but be grateful that Nissan built this in the first place, after a long-lasting wait from its 2011-12(?) Concept phase. So, if loving a piece-of-garbage econobox that insults a highly-famous performance division is bad, than I rather be shunned/ go to prison/ or go to the automotive-form of Hell

ChrisGotsIt Other than the bodykit and some badges, I dont see what is different...and I own a 2017 sentra turbo. I got it for a good deal and love it. Its reminds me of the old puddle jumper sentras of the 1980s and i think thats what sucked me in. (I learned how to drive in a 1983 B11 Sentra with a 5 speed.) For the NISMO They should have at least done an MR20ddt or something..... I can understand the 1.6 in MY sentra as its geared toward fuel economy and torque. it averages 36mpg IN TOWN and is still fun to drive.....(6 speed manual) The NISMO should be about performance. Where is the limited slip diff? Maybe in leiu of dropping a different engine in, they could at least have raised the boost and/or redline, maybe give it a token 15hp increase. They should have lowered it a few inches (the car looks like it sits on stilts) and taken a bunch of weight out. Instead, we get a factory ricer ride. Great.

I love Nissan and I love the Sentra. I do not love this Nissan Sentra. It's easy to diss it from the safety of a keyboard having never driven it but just on paper, it has the same horsepower as the B16 Spec V with the same times as the B15. It's supposedly Nismo but it probably couldn't compete against cars in its price range. I know cars are changing with the hot hatch market now being the place to go for fast, affordable new cars but it's still sad they didn't put more effort than what amounts to a suspension and appearance package.

Holy shit, Nissan brought back their FWD sport compact! And it comes in a stick shift! Though I don't see any reason why anybody would get a CVT in this vehicle... Also, I expect a vehicle with the in-house tune shop label to be more-sporting than being basically a Sentra SE-R successor. However, with the independent rear suspension of the Hyundai Elantra Sport and similar pricing but more power, it's kind of a hard sell for the Nismo Sentra.

power to weight ratio .nissan sentra nismo trim 188hp 177 ft lbs at curb weight under 3100 188/3100=0.060645 loser. ford mustang 2 door ecoboost trim 310hp 320ft lbs at curb weight 3532 310/3532=0.087768 winner. So the mustang has power to weight ratio advantage but the drivetrain loss is 5 to 10 percent higher due to being RWD.sentra fwd 188/5= 37.6 188-37.6= 150.4hp to the wheel and the mustang rwd 310/4=77.5 310-77.5= 232.5hp to wheel. Is the Nismo underpowered no if the ratio was lower than 0.05 then it is underpowered, the sentra has moderate power but the ecoboost mustang has above average power. 0.1 is ratio you want for perfect power to weight balance.

Only 188hp the earlier 2002 Acura RSX type S was given 200hp you would think Nissan would of put more ponies under the hood.

I've got an '08 spec v, so I was interested when I heard about this at first. But now I see it's basically a long fuse attached to a wet firecracker. Quite a disappointment. Sticking with the spec v, thanks.

I think they should've just stopped at the SR Turbo. Maybe offer a "Nismo Handling Package" for it as an option. But this is just a half baked attempt, sadly :(

It's not about the hp numbers, it's about how it moves those horses. My car has 110 hp, and is only .4 seconds slower in 0-60. It's also 34 years older. Why in the hell, would i give up on my incredibly fun car from 1985, to buy something like this. It's a money grab and a joke. I can't believe people fell for it.

This has the same 1/4 and 0-60 time as a 1991 SER WTF.

Agreed. Compared to the Elantra Sport, this is immensely disappointing.
