Well, it's intended for use by people who already have problems with walking anyway. I imagine one of the major use cases for this is to help rehabilitate people who have waist-down paralysis as a result of stroke (grandparents of both sides of my family have it). The technology could also be used in bionic leg prosthesis although there are already entire labs dedicated to developing bionic prosthetics. If a normal person were to actually use this on a day-to-day basis, their leg muscles would atrophy as a result of not needing to exert the muscles as much, but if there's any perfectly mobile person who would benefit from this, it would be soldiers carrying hundreds of pounds of equipment regularly when in deployment. If this were to go commercial one important feature this needs to have is to allow the people implementing this to adjust the amount of powered assistance to give the user to account for whoever needs to use this and consider stuff like muscle atrophy, pre existing conditions affecting mobility etc.

BTW I have got most strongest and bulky calf muscles in my entire town as I like workout of legs day most in my gym schedule...people used to ask me..what are you going to do with those big calf muscles? Now i know how useful they ate in walking and running

I broke my foot n had to wear a full moon boot for months But i got use to it and just did normal day to day stuff n i live on a farm so yeh pretty hard on it which delayed even more But after i stopped wearing it my ankle mussels wear so weak i couldnt even stand on 1 foot for more than a secnd or to. N would randomly give way n hit the ground. Took me agers to get it back

Oh, but don't try crab walking though, or side stepping. . . or strafing, jumping or really most any normal motor functions. Yeah, the systems not really built for that. Could be a big leap of faith for people like myself with life limiting flat feet tree trunk legs, no thanks to a busted lymphatic system/Lymphoedema and totally flat dropped feet with no insteps or arches, although, if you do have particularly wide calves, this boot as it is wouldn't work for you unless it was lace up, or you lost the boot altogether and just had a thing like those kiddies roller skates which strap over a normal pair of boots, shoes, sandals, slippers Etc. That would also be better over the warmer months when you wouldn't want to be wearing boots.

This is, in reality, stupid. Weightlifting bulks up muscle, by constantly and repeatedly, tearing muscle tissue. The repair process then adds more on to help since constant tearing is a sign of heavy use thus the body reacts by meeting the need. Similarly, bones get stronger through impact. Putting them under stress causes the body to react similarly. It makes them fractionally stronger each time to meet the need. Of course, both processes only work within reason. Doing too much abuse is like overdoing anything, toxic. Still, astronauts lose massive amounts of muscle and bone mass because the body is an efficiency machine. If they aren't constantly tearing their muscles and impacting their bones under the pressure of gravity, they quickly lose them. Walkers, scooters, iron man shoes may have niche uses, but an overuse of them further disables people because, while they assist people, they assist people in atrophying. An injury can mean a need for support. Most people using these things just have atrophied muscles and bones. It would benefit them much more to have physio to get them back up to strength. So, instead of making a shoe that takes over for the work, why not make a shoe that helps a person build muscle? For many older people, it can be dangerous to excersize when their muscles reach a certain point of atrophy. Their legs giving out from under them becomes a real concern. Maybe some gear that allows them to strengthen themselves in a safe manner until they can build enough muscle to be more stable on their own would be a much better tool.
