1066. Vikings, Normans, Anglo-Saxons. The Battle of Hastings. The climactic events in the 6th year of the 6th decade of the 11th century in England had their origins much earlier in the 1000's, with the likes of the great Viking lords Cnut the Great and Sweyn Forkbeard, as well as those Anglo-Saxons who fought tooth and nail against them like Edmund Ironside and Edward the Confessor.

Medieval historians of that era contradict each other on whether the Normans originated in Norway or Denmark. Partly this is because to them, all Vikings were called Northmen, Danes or Norwegians, interchangeably.

@@squamish4244 The Far Left and the Far Right are both growing, and the growth of one encourages the growth of another. One does get ignored by the press more often than the other. Ignoring bad actors on one side because of political bias and ignoring valid concerns of one side drives them to become more extreme and and can encourage others to turn to these extremist movements. Globalist Socialism vs. National Socialism? Neither has any place in modern society.

@@jackjft9654 Did you get your history lessons from 4chan and reddit? lol You clearly know nothing about Bulgarian history, so you why are you acting tough with me? I didn't say Bulgaria had the largest empire during that entire period, you are putting words into my mouth and you seem to have trouble reading properly. I said we had the largest empire AT ONE POINT during that period of time. In particular during the late 900s to early 1000 AD. For several hundred years, Bulgaria DID had THE largest Empire on the entire continent, and we did also had a long golden age from around 900 AD to early 1000 AD during which we not only created the cyrilic alphabet but we also spread it throughout Europe, and we also spread religion and culture. That's why Russia and the entire eastern part of Europe is Christian today! We gave Russia Christianity, culture and language. To say we weren't important in history just shows you know nothing about Bulgarian history. We were THE most important nation at one point in Europe, since Bulgarian King was the Emperor of the east Roman Empire for several decades. Learn some history from history textbooks and stop parroting 4chan and reddit memes. Also, we weren'tpart of Europe for most of our history? What? How does that even make any sense? We are geographically IN Europe, so how we not be part of Europe in any moment of time in our history? If you're referring to the Ottoman occupation, that lasted 400 years, a small part of our 2000+ years of history, and even during that occupation, we were still part of Europe.

Its finally become clear to me, that all of my ancestry almost has the same thing in common, the North Sea. So I am here and wondering for any more connection between England and Germany specifically, as these were clearly my ancestors. Thanks!

Yep..me too. My results denoted mostly anglosaxon, danish, finnish, baltic..and even a little bit of italian..and further renfinements to my raw data displays langobardic ancestry..thus I think this accounts for the small proportion that was identified. And after further testing still, there isn't an iota of anything romance based whatsoever. Not that I would mind...it's just insane how so many germanic peoples are genetically intertwined throughout the course of history.

Slight error. It was Kings, Sub Kings who ruled Cities, Earls who ruled Towns and Villages, Peasants who could own land and earn money, Slaves who held the status of their owners… A slave of the King spoke with the kings voice and acted for the king, an attack on the slave of a king was an attack on the king, and Surfs who were Peasants but couldn’t earn money or own land… a Surf could earn shelter and food. A surf is in a worse position than a slave. A good Earl would provide decent shelter to surfs as they were the first to be conscripted and if you fell short on taxes their kids could be sold into slavery. Eboracum was the capital of the Northern Roman Empire as established by Emperor Hadrian, after 306CE it also became the most important christian city in the known world thanks to Emperor Constantine. As a minor point it was the “Norse” Sea Empire as the spelling “North” didn’t exist until the early 14th century and Norse is an English word. Cnut was crowned in York, previously Eboracum the Capital of the Northern Roman Empire as founded by Emperor Hadrian. The original York Minster was vast and would be a wonder of the world if it survived. Hadrian commissioned it as the Foro Eboracum. It became the holiest site in Christianity, Constantine the Great was crowned with the laurels from the colossus of Antinoüs in the building, earning Antinoüs the Christian title Sant Angelou “Sacred Angel”. Credited with giving Constantine the vision to unite the Roman Empire as Christian and build Constantinople. It is also said to have inspired the policy that warriors of god should renounce women and only seek love amongst each other… (checks out 😂) Cnut in the same building surrounded by the same murals about the manifest destiny to unite the world under a single banner from Eboracum (York) had a divine vision sent by god and that created the Norse Sea Empire. We know about it because the Roman Church sent our many letters and ordered its priests to tell the faithful in sermons and anyone in the streets that it was a vision sent by the devil.. Because Rome the seat of the Beast using the language of the Enemy of God was the centre of Christianity.. Wessex was a Bog that flooded at high tide, Winchester was a Leper colony known for the hospital built by Saint Alfred (Alfred the Great), it got so bad that Edward the Confessor built a new capital at Westminster that became the pilgrimage place for people afflicted with Syphilis, in 1070 William left both cities and established a new capital in Windsor that became famous for pilgrims with recurring fevers so in 1072 William quit Windsor and moved his Capital to Rouen in Normandy. The Norman Bishop of York called Wessex “A swamp filled with living corpses, syphilitic lepers and fevers to madden the minds of even the most faithful”, the full quote makes it sound like a zombie apocalypse movie. Edgar II was young and the Witan had remained in York when Harold had rushed back to meet William at Hastings. Edgar Ætheling was elected King of England and Emperor of the Norse Sea Empire on the 28th day of October 1066 in York Minster and crowned with the same golden laurels that crowned Constantine the Great that day “as the sun set” as was tradition since Constantine in 306. The tradition that a King of England take the crown of Wessex was waved because William wanted the Leper Colony. Edgar II reunited the Norse Sea Empire thanks to his being Hungarian. His sister Margaret married Malcolm III of Scotland and became known as Margaret the Great of Scotland and later Saint Margaret of Scotland.. Edgar arranged Matilda their daughter marry Henry the son of William of Wessex making him the legitimate king of Wessex and heir to the Empire. As Emperor of the Northern Roman Empire, Edgar Ætheling worked hard to create an empire of independent nations under a singular neutral authority. The Empire (Freehold) of Independent Nations is now called the Commonwealth of Independent Nations.. It didn’t go away, it evolved.

I think the Anglo Saxon language and culture wouldn't have suffered damage. The north of England wouldn't have been razed. The English wouldn't have been dragged into massive wars with France. The Normans and their successors also meant trouble for the Irish and Welsh. And there was the forest laws which eroded a mans ability to live off his land.
