100 years after Francis Ouimet's watershed victory in the 1913 U.S. Open at The Country Club, Matt Fitzpatrick was trying to make history of his own at that very same place, with eyes on becoming England's first U.S. Amateur champion since 1911.

I was at this, this is one of the great golf courses in America, and maybe the nation’s best match play golf course. The 1999 Ryder Cup was one of the best sporting events I’ve ever seen, this 2013 US Am was awesome as well, saw my second hole in one in person on Friday at #7 (nope I’ve never made one lol). The US Opens at Brookline have also had a match play feel, with famous playoffs in 1913 (Ouimet over the British stars Vardon and Ray in the “Greatest Game Ever Played”), 1961 (Arnold Palmer and Jacky Cupit lost to Julius Boros), and 1988 (Curtis Strange, to that point known for blowing the 1985 Masters, beating British Open champion Nick Faldo). Can not wait for the 2022 US Open at The Country Club!

I played Ontario and Canadian junior golf while Correy, and Mckenzie were two years ahead of me, Nick Taylor a couple more years...these guys were incredible...I dont think I ever beat them...and the wild thing is there are 3 or 4 other players (matt hill, mitch sutton, albin choi, richard jung), who arguabley were just as good or better then them

The comment about courses in the UK not having rough around the greens couldn’t be further from the truth. He’s probably talking about links courses or some of the richer courses that are manicured well. Most regular courses in the UK have rough around the greens.
