I happen to be a new pool owner for about a year now. I’ve been maintaining my pool all by myself for about 5 months now and that do to what I’ve learned from SPS. Thanks Josh. Keep em coming. You Rock!

Thanks for taking the time to do all your videos that help this DIY pool guy! What are your thoughts on the ChemCheck product and app from Pentair?

Its 2021... with all the innovations in automation.... wonder how long it will be untill you could install a "feeding station" of big drums with the various chemicals... and with a 24/7 probe/sensor arrey... it would release the needed amount into the pool, based on your own custom settings... you could also have cameras installed towards the filter basket... to inspect via a pc/app if there is debrie... a probe that listens on the pump impeller etc etc... so many possibilities...

There’s commercial pools with other kind of feeders besides chlorine. But honestly there’s so many miscellaneous cleaning/maintenance tasks that would be ridiculously expensive/difficult to automate at the residential level. There’s simply too many factors that go into sterilizing and cleaning a large body of water and it’s container.

Remember folks: If you hire a pool service, they likely will only be there once a week. In between your service days, act like the pool is yours and take care of it. Empty your skimmer/pump baskets, net/brush the pool if it gets funky. CALL your pool company if your having issues or just want to ask a question. Nothing pisses me off more than showing up to a green pool only to find out nothing has been working for 5 days and it’s 110 degrees outside. It’s YOUR pool, it’s YOUR responsibility.

THIS RIGHT HERE! The cleanest and most balanced the pool will be is the moment we latch your back yard gate closed. It’s up to you in between. Your pool may require more that just once a week service and that is something to be assessed and considered if one visit a week isn’t enough and you as the homeowner do not have the 5-10 minutes a week it takes to empty baskets, etc. in between.
