The Def sensor in my 21 Dutch Star failed a few weeks ago between North Platte Nebraska and Cheyenne Wyoming. Drove around 100 miles didn't hit limp mode. There are some great KZbin videos that describe how DEF works and it helps reduce ozone. It benefits the health of everyone when we breath cleaner air.
@curttundra3 ай бұрын
Doesn't do a darn thing to the ozone layer. The particulate filter is there to reduce unburned carbon from going out the tail pipes, which is the black smoke seen on pre DPF engines. If you truly want cleaner air start talking about China and India. They contribute about 80% of the world's air pollution.
@74763183 ай бұрын
@@curttundra You just proved that you don’t know anything about it, at all. It’s not about the ozone layer. Diesel engines produce nitrogen oxides and it’s the DEF system that reduces these oxides. These oxides are converted to ozone through UV light. Ozone is not good for you or me to breath. Just do some reading.
@nomadbiker40403 ай бұрын
DPF systems are for large particulates. They are still released into the environment when the filters are cleaned out, all at once rather than a little at a time. And they don't tell you how much more fuel is burned transporting DEF around the country, not to mention vehicles and parts for DPF repairs like in this video. To top it off, DEF containers that are sold in bottles at stores are disposed when empty, creating more paper and plastic waste in the environment. When government tries to solve a "problem", it usually makes it worse by creating tenfold new problems
