Got the Ravetech skid plate... Nice. It only mounts to the frame and not engine bolts

I just got home to Austin from a road trip to Colorado. By car, though. We took the route through Palo Duro canyon, nice scenery, and then up to Amarillo where we stopped at the Big Texan and had a steak. Then up through Texline, a little bit through New Mexico, then Trinidad Colorado and up to Colorado Springs and on to Glenwood Springs. The scenery in Colorado is just stunning. We kept talking about how awesome it would be to ride our bikes instead of driving a car.

How was the steak? Was it awesome?

It was good but not great. Texas Roadhouse is definitely better. Plus they charge you about 5 bucks more than Texas Roadhouse for the same size steak. But I didn't really mind, I just wanted to eat there once because it's a famous steakhouse. Probably would not go back.

Thats why I want to go, because its sort of a must do thing.

Exactly why we decided to stop and eat there. If you live in Texas it just feels like something you should have done once. But once is enough, haha.

I *think* the Zumo 660 comes with the power cradle and the mount kit, the 590lm definitely does, just check it. The 590 and Navigator V I have are kind of clunky compared to phone tech now (the TomTom Go phone app works great for times without data coverage), but they are very rugged and waterproof and I ride with both phone and moto GPS to have the redundancy. The phone is better with music for sure, more variety, particularly when in data range for streaming. A nice thing with the Garmins, you can use Basecamp to pre-route a trip and they also track all your rides so if you wander out and find good roads, they will log where you were all day if you just enable the trip logs. TomTom Go has some similar functionality but it's web sync based and not as feature rich as Basecamp is.

Just a tip :) I've read that you should never store food in a tankbag, because the lid can vent gasses if the pressure gets to high in the tank, and if those get in your tankbag, and you're keeping food in it, it can poison your food.. Anyway good luck on the trip! :D

hmm interesting. At a minimum it might taste like gas. I would probably only have a road snack in there for a couple hours at a time so I wouldn't worry too much, but I would definitely make sure to watch for any funky taste.

i went moto camping just this past week up in arkansas, packed a 3 man tent on my R1200C in a MAGELLAN duffel bag. i secured it to the bike with a chamber gun lock. use coated lockes if you do to avoid scratches. but of course, that dosnt stop shit heads with knives.

lmao I have a gun lock on my bike for times when I need to lock my helmet and don't have the top case on the bike.

Oh, sorry man, I see now you have a early yr DL1K now? Wasn't trying to diss your bike in my reply below. Well, so many dudes tell me about the clutch chudder, the 3K-4K rpms issue and that it really needs a Power Comm installed to run well at all. Not sure what all you've done to yours but it seems smooth. And you were revin it so low, I thot your tach needle was broken. So no such probs with your '05 DL1000 then? Hmm, I may take a 2nd look at that '08 DL1K nearby. He just dropped the price to what I'm going to pay for that Wee 650 this Sat. Arghhhh.
