My late faculty advisor from Central College was researching a book she was writing on Cordova. She spent so many hours on microfilm in the Knoxville Library, she said she had to hold onto the railing going down the steps so she wouldn't lose her balance. I took her Conservation of Natural Resources class one summer and my project was to set up a two day historical tour of Marion County and I used a county map before Red Rock was built. Some of those roads were not under water. That was more than a half century ago.

I can imagine... the squinting, rolling, re-rolling, leaning in, squinting more... It wasn't comfortable work, for certain. THANK GOODNESS I live when I do. Check out the Lost Town of Rousseau video. I tried to get at close as possible via Lake Red Rock and - holy smokes - the Cordova Town took the wind out of of me. I had to stop and regain my sense of self. Those see-through steps, though... terrifying.
