Pleasant drive to Windsor to visit the Amish! Stopped at Lilac Bulk Foods and Kuntry Bulk Grocery. We also visited Farmington Park, the pride of Windsor!

I'm from West Texas and have never been around the Amish. There are some Mennonites in the area who are mostly farmers and carpenters, and they work very hard. However, they stay to themselves and others w/i their group and rarely intermingle with anyone who isn't Mennonite, so I've never known any personally. I just know that their work and religious ethics are extremely strong, as is their support for others in their group.

Great video and photos - thanks! Pretty cloud days in Amish country are the best 😊 We love our unique town of Windsor - our great community, our farm land surrounding it, our Amish. We love being the crossroads of the Katy Trail State Park and the Rock Island Trail that comes down from Kansas City to meet at Windsor.

I plan to make a video of Hannibal in the future. My son made a mannequin of Mark Twain for a school presentation, and it was placed in the Mark Twain Museum for .... not sure if it is still there.

Have been to both stores. Lilac Lane is my favorite. I was able to get canning lids there in 2020 when they couldn't be found anywhere else. I also like buying their bulk flour. Money saver. The people are very nice also.

If you see little tiny sheds on Amish property..it's a phone booth! Some of them have phones for there businesses, etc..just not in their house. I live in Tightwad which is about 15 miles away..🙂

I lived in Windsor during the 1960s and I have no memories of seeing Amish people! Most of the town was unfamiliar, too, except for the post office.

As a kid we lived in a small town outside of Kansas City, Missouri circa 1967-1968. My 3rd grade teacher was a Mennonite. She was the MEANEST and most hateful of all my educators. Math was and still not my favorite subject. Whenever I didn’t provide the correct answer, she used her “claw” index finger and thumb to squeeze both sides of my mouth and shake my head side to side, while verbally criticizing me. She was known to all for her “claw.”
@xlatlego Жыл бұрын
In those days, teachers were permitted to do that. I lived in Troy, Michigan during that time period and my 2nd grade teacher would pull my hair and also swat my hand with a ruler.

I thought the Amish don't want their picture taken as it will capture their spirit from them? Are you sure they are not mennonite?

im not sure who gave you directions out there but boy did they send you around robinhoods barn! lol had you turned off of 52 hyway right next to park and gone straight you would have gotten to a curve and had you taken itto the left, Amish store was just a couple of miles ahead.

They may seem like nice people, but they treat their animals like machines, running their horses into the ground, then selling them for slaughter to the highest bidder when the horse is disabled through hard work and not profitable anymore. I don’t support their “business model” at all.
