Last summer, when my friends car got painted i helped him sanding. We went up to 2000grit before the first coat of paint. Was a pain, but well worth it. Love the content!
@bgee4613 жыл бұрын
Not sure that's a great idea, too smooth of a surface the paint will just lift off and flake like crazy. Material needs tooth to grab onto, that's why every system comes with very specific instructions on what grit to do the final sand in. Generally pearls have the smallest flakes so they go 400 or 600 grit to avoid the flakes laying down weird and reflecting back sanding scratches. Read the material notes that come with your paint, I guess is all I'm saying
@csutorasdavid20013 жыл бұрын
@@bgee461 We did what the painter said to do, before that it has been primered with a specific primer a few times so yeah. But maybe there are diferences beetwen the scales in the Us and Hungary but we did factory spec as i heard. Also, the painter is a restorer, well known. so I think we good. But when i will do my own will keep this advice in mind, thank you.

Hi awsome build you´re doing. I was pretty impressed when I saw you took the time and effort to mask the paint jar so it doesnt get nasty when measuring the amount of paint you need. That is just one of the small things that make your videos curiously enjoyable. Greetings from Denmark. Looking forward to see the end result.

That was disappointing with the shipping delay, as I was hoping that you'd get to making the roof mould. But that will happen real soon, seeing that the material has now been shipped. Once you finish the car, you'd better put it in a glass box. You are doing such a perfect job on building it that it would be scary to drive it in case you got a stone chip on your perfect paintwork. But then you said you are going to clear bra it, so that might make it safe to drive. Hopefully, you'll be doing the roof mould in the next video, but in the meantime, a preview of the color and it looks great. That car is going to be something when it's finished. All the best from Queensland Australia.

Tape a piece of paper to the wall to check your spray pattern, looked like you were a bit too wide open for the distance you’re holding the gun from your work piece. I always did this with my metallics and clears so you can fine tune your pattern to avoid having too much material on the top and bottom edge of your fan, I usually set for 4-6in distance from the work piece, it’s especially important with metallics to have a consistent fan pattern for the distance you spray at because it can cause striping if your pattern is too heavy top and bottom and with clear you can end up with runs and inconsistent layout if it’s too heavy top/bottom. That color looks amazing, look forward to seeing the whole body in full color.

I guess my only question would be are you going to have to worry about any color variants issues since you're not painting everything at the same time? Good luck on that mail hopefully it's got there by now... I mailed something over Christmas to a town 3 hours away and it took over three weeks, so good luck!

Frost bite blue looks like that? I thought was alittle lighter. I like Gracier blue. It's so light and icy. Alpine white paint with mixed with white pearl and bright auluminum silver metalic for a base coat. Then 3 coats of transparent light blue. 2 coats of clear coat. It's a 3 step paint job. Looks killer. Frost bite blue blew my mind. I hope it looks better than it does on my cell phone. My cell phone screen is cracked! "GET'ER'DONE, DAVE!"
@Oscarphone3 жыл бұрын
The roughness on your fender flairs: Some of the body repair parts you get from the factory are pieces that have been rejected for assembly line use. Various blemishes and dents, that can be fixed easily in a repair shop environment aren't used on the assembly line as they don't have the time to screw with repair so off they go as over-the-counter repair stuff.. Like I said, not all parts are but some are.

Why don't you use 3M PPS system on your paint guns? I found it saved a TON of time and eliminated a lot of paint waste when I made the switch. I use PPS 1.0 because the adapters are cheap and knockoff cups on amazon are cheap.
@tomrockholm-timeless_morph66913 жыл бұрын
Might want to check your mil thickness on the car after each prime and block session to make sure you’re taking it down enough. Most paint systems are designed for 6-12mil, over 12mil and you can run into issues of cracking, excessive shrinkage and other blemishes unless you’re using a paint system designed for excessive mil thickness like HOK and aviation grade high solids. Just something to keep in mind.

I'm sure you know what you're doing but with all respect I will like to give you a tip on the preparation for the base, I work in the same industry ... instead of using a dark color on the seal , it's better tu use a light color like gray or white to use less material because blue colors are so transparent and usually that's the reason the plastic parts don't usually match the body off the car but overall I love your work and I can't wait to see it finished!!👍👍👍

Why are you using your sealer as primer? If it went through to plastic, you always prime it as that'll soak up sealer and leave different texture. Not to mention you can probably get that wavyness out of them with a good thick primer coat and some, guide coat, and some blocking...
