The Land Cruiser may be $10,000 more than your Land Rover,but think about it,you bought a LAND ROVER,even after 80 years the brand still hasn't gotten reliability or build quality down.We'll see in 5 years when it's literally falling apart,and you decide to sell your magnificent LR4.By then the price difference would have evened itself out substantially.With the Land Cruiser's unmatched build quality,reliability,safety and re-sale value,it has and quite possibly will be the best SUV you can buy.

murksyou I agree I bought a Range Rover and had an old 87 Land Cruiser. There is no match, Rover was for Gravel roads, Cruiser was for anything you wanted to do, never let me down, always brought me home even when it was smoking and sputtering regardless of how far (500 miles)

there is a quote to aussie that says "if you're going to the outback, bring a Land Rover; if you're thinking of coming back, bring a Land Cruiser" One of the best 4x4 so far..
@leanright6870
@leanright6870 16 жыл бұрын
Don't go far off-road with the Land Rover though, because in places where you NEED a true 4x4, reliability is AS important as off-road capability. The Land Cruiser is exponentially more reliable than the LandRover's of last 30 years - not too many people would argue that point (and it's a BIG one).

We have a 1999 Land Cruiser with 180,000 miles on it. The 4.7 L engine still runs great, but the electrical components are starting to show their age. The A/C doesn't work properly, the front-passenger door lock doesn't work when we hit the door lock switch, the windows are slow. The only major engine problem we've had was when the whole vehicle vibrated real bad when the engine was running, but we fixed that.

I don't understand why people even compare the Hummer H3 to the Land Cruiser. The Land Cruiser is in a completely different class, a class of it's own in fact. If anything the H3 should be compared to the FJ, in which it gets completely diminished.

Not an unreasonable position, but if you live in an area where you NEED a good 4X4 & don't have service readily available (say, Papua New Guinea), the price is well worth it due to the quality and longevity of Land Cruiser. In the US, we don't need to pay this kind of money for 4x4, but I still drive one because they're the best.
@shanobi95
@shanobi95 12 жыл бұрын
A Hummer H2 is not too much cheaper than a Land Cruiser of the same year. Not only that, but Land Cruiser's come better equipped and have a much better build quality. Also everyone knows that H2's are god awful offroad, after all, it is a Suburban. And if you're talking about an H3, why would you even compare the two? If anything it should be compared with they FJ. In which the FJ also wins.

@Bcboi92 The land cruiser is the same as the Lexus LX570. Land Cruisers are the best suvs you can by. The UN uses them. They are designed to go through the rough terrain. Its used alot in the the middle east and Australia. The Land cruisers are tested in the outback of australia. Buy one and you will get your moneys worth

That rear hatch is not unique. BMW introduced a similar rear hatch design in 2007 on the new X5. In addition, the bottom part of BMW X5's hatch can carry up to 250 kg (550 lbs) so you can rest heavy objects on it while loading or offloading.

I still drive the FJ100 - not because I need it here in the US, but because of it's legendary history & quality ... It says: I'm not (Land Rover/BMW/Cayanne) pompous, I just like good stuff. (Unfortunately, American 4x4's [H2/Jeep, etc.] don't get to be "pompous" or maintain a world-wide reputation as "good stuff" ... it's sad, really.)

The only reason why, they're rebuilt over is, the owner wants it to look spectacular. Really..., the only major work that's done to a classic American car is, the exterior and, interior body...if, worn! The engine definitely remains the same. The only things people may change on the engine is, minor thigs like, pulleys, timingbelts, sparkplugs and, airfilter. Basically, just a tune-up!

in the USA, there is only one trim of toyota lancruiser. there's no gxr, lx, dx, le, etc. ONLY ONE TOYOTA LANCRUISER with everything the same, except a few optional luxury items. however, i noticed that around the globe there are many different version of Toyota Landcruiser. only god knows the name of the different versions. The Landcruiser name has became an umbrella name for other toyota suv.

When it truely comes to selling vehicles and, giving the people what they need and, want..., America only matters...because, our thoughts on certain things really matters the most and, we have the largest selling auto market. P.S. I don't have an Expedition...actually, I have a Chevorlet SuburbanLT....but, loves Ford! ;-)

Lol..., you might have a point by, the way you put that! I'm not a fool...but, Expy's are prettygood, offroad also. I took my 2002 F. Expy all in the backwoods, up in the mountains, outside Ashville and, Charlotte, NC. and, it's all kinds of ditches, mudpools and, everything else that, would normally get a truck stuck. I've zipped threw those areas like, it was absolutley nothing with, my Expy, over and, over again with, hardly no problem! ;-)

I didn't know the landcruiser was the only car they sell, nice of you to judge a company by one product. P.S. Toyota's V8 is one the of cleanest compared to their peers. Excluding honda since they don't even have a V-8, hyundai will beat honda introducing a v8 in 09...

@skapunkboy01 Well I mean Toyota's in the US are for ordinary people but in this case a Toyota Landcruiser isnt for everyone in the US either, its a $65,970 car and that my friend is not the ordinary MSRP for a toyota nor for the general mid-class person. I think we can all agree that before buying a $65,000 car I think others would prefer a $46,000 BMW 5 series, Infiniti M, Even a Range Rover sport for a MSRP of $60,000.

Can someone explain to me why when I went to toyota and saw a black landcruiser. It was fully loaded but one thing, the windows were tinted GREEN but not any green, light green! Then I walk to the lexus dealership right across the street and look at the LX570 with black tinted windows. If you put money issue aside, I think the LX570 is a better buy..............
