Newer metal head here. Kinda…Listened to everything as a kid grew up on a ton of metal bands but 2 years ago Jinjer got me into metal again as an adult. These past 2 years have been ROUGH. I get to see them in 4 days. This is my comfort emo Jinjer song. I already know I’m gonna cry but if they play this I’m gonna be a MESS! Idk if any band can ever top them for me, they’re my favorite. I’m ready for them to start headlining their own tours🖤

that second growl right after the line "dont really wish for new ones" was so fuckin PRIMAL holy shit. Its not even the deepest ones she's ever done but the way it came across with that much sadness and fear felt like it was the black wolf coming out of her. I am interpreting the video as the pressures and duties of being in the band are scary because they force her to leave her sanctuary...she loves them and her art but at the same time those responsibilities mean risk and confronting her fears....stepping out into that "sick, sick world" and dealing with those fears is tough. Honest to god its like she wrote my own life down on paper. It's.....wild. Im a big ol' introvert and sometimes its solitude and sometimes its a prison. I've lost long term friendships from just drifting apart and the fact that sometimes I get hermitic and don't reach out to loved ones enough. I've gone days without talking to anyone. Nothing happened....I'm just in my own little world. When I do hear from them or contact them we catch up like nothing happened (because nothing did) and we catch up and all is right with the world again. I've rationalized it away as being "self sufficient" but damnit...sometimes I wonder if I'm just shooting myself in the foot.

You hit the nail on the head! Feel the exact same way. It is a blessing but can become a curse wanting and being able to be alone. Some of us are more introspective and enjoy being with ourselves without necessarily becoming haunted by our thoughts. The lyrics "I gotta go home, my batteries are low" really rings true for me. You are holding back alot of yourself and hyper-analyzing and it takes alot of energy. Only when I am really tired after work I loosen up and give zero fucks about peoples opinion of me. I can walk on the street singing and talk to people like I am home in my room. But when I do get home I am still mentally exhausted and just want to be in blissful silence.

@@muaddib4329 That is how we are right now. When you are with a person you really trust and feel like home with, you can almost relax fully. But it's kind of a fear of being 100% authentic and at the same time being easily overstimulated with social interaction. It gets better when you are out alot every day but I get an uneasy feeling with I have been social for way too long. Nice to know that we are not alone about this!

That's sounds so much like me. I'm such an introvert and my house is my sanctuary. I've lost contact with friends and even some family members and I've lost family during COVID. I feel like others have to drag me out of my house sometimes. I remember seeing an interview with Tatiana and she pretty much said the same thing. She's a big introvert and just wants to stay home in her happy place but she has to be gone touring and once she's out there's she's fine but she does get homesick. I'm paraphrasing...

This whole pandemic has accelerated a process, that already started since I got older. You realise more and more, who your friends are and that the door swings both ways. I cut a lot of ties and feel better now. This song strikes a chord, for sure. It amazes me, how versatile this amazing band is. Good one!

Very sure it is about her relationship with the band, especially with their recent fame. This makes a lot of sense if you watched the interview with Elizabeth from the Charismatic Voice, where Tatiana mentions how much she procrastinates. She kinda writes the lyrics in the absolute last minute, just a few days before she needs to record them, because she rather slacks off and wants to be for herself. So her gunning down the band is likely a metaphor for her lashing out for them pushing her, but of course they're family at this point, so it does not affect them, but they are also not going away - only when she finally throws the sand art at them, metaphorically standing for her lyrics. There's some other details, like the black & white scene being sort of the past, which then catches up with her, and the 21 on the door for 2021 being the year of this album. Definitely the most relatable song from them so far. I still keep getting goosebumps when it turns all eerie and dissonant, and when she drops that pain filled scream. You can definitely immediately tell while watching reactions if someone gets the song and feeling of it or not. A lot of them unfortunately do not.

I think the video and song diverge a bit. My inital impression was that the members of the band just stand in for others in general, but the video makes sense as being about her procrastination and the stress of their relationships (I'm reminded of a quite by the gus from Rammstein comparing a band to marriage without sex), and possibly quite literally the band trying to get her to write lyrics and compose vocals as their recording deadlines approach. But the song feels more generally about her introversion and social anxiety, and the tension between her inner need to close off and her very public role as a frontwoman.

One thing that I’ve noticed that I don’t believe many picked up on. The symbol which was in the sand art is the astrological sign Pisces (yep that one). As alluded to in the single Pisces, being born under that timeframe creates a duality (as noticed with the feral and tame wolf pictures) between introverted and extroverted. Tatiana has stated a number of times that for as much of a showwoman she is on stage, she appreciates a quiet life and is very kept to herself when able. She’s mentioned this dichotomy a number of times in interviews. I’m sure the pandemic has therefore increased the division - less trust, more separation. Many, many people can relate with these lyrics. Myself included. Nice job on the video, Tank. And FWIW, you have a friend in me. I’m sure many other folks commenting would say the same.

I agree. My astrological sign pisces and i same born on March 15 like Tati, but 5 years later. I have always denied astrology and other mysticism, but at the same time I believed in it. From the very early childhood, I felt like an introvert, demanding privacy, but at the same time an extrovert in many things, after which I felt bad. This "duality" is in everything in my life, and when I heard this song for the first time, tears fell from my eyes. I love the music and lyrics of Jinjer, I've been listening to them since about 2016, for me they are the best modern progressive metal band. I agree that the song is heavy, but it did not make me feel heavy - for me, it seems kind of like a validation of my feelings/experiences to have someone else put it into words. I heavily identify with the part about "Your capsule is your fortress, where you can lick your wounds." When things get rough and I get stressed, I retreat from people because I do not like to share my problems. It is something that I know has made some people angry with me. I have also seen my circle of friends (aka acquaintances) from college and graduate school drop away once I no longer saw them. Although I have been at my current job for many years, everyone basically just goes home afterwards so I do not even really have "work friends" at this point. It would be nice to make new friends, but I enjoy just being at home.

This song is so good it is my favorite off the album. I love her cleans and we get a lot of it in this song. The lyrical content in the whole album is good but it's different with this one and it's deep. The lyrics talk about how it's like to introverted . The video also helps with seeing how she is introverted. The band "pursuing" her for lyrics (She normally writes the lyrics for songs the night before) When she is shooting them she is trying to tell them (with some force) to lay off and they only disappear once she throws the sand art at them (her lyrics).

The whole song, packed with references to fairy tales... I can`t interprete it in a single comment. That is truly a well thought song with several layers. Each one conclude to the impression that everything will end. She fired bullets at the band and they stayed, kept playing, stayed together. They were doing their thing together. All that chaos around her, her precious chest everybody is hunting her for, her private chest that everybody tries to steal, her private life. But as soon as the sand-picture she was creating with passion and precision crumbled, the band disappeared. I don`t know if that`s a fear, an unevitable end or her wish as the last scene (the black wolf shakes as the white wolf remains calm) could imply. I`m really impressed by that whole audio-visual composing and will try to decipher (for me) it as much as I can.

I've heard this song over a dozen times since it came out and it really does resonate with me. I have a handful of friends, I'm very picky who I trust and let in. I'm more of an extroverted introvert. I like going to shows and hanging with friends. I don't mind crowded places, but I also like elbow room. I'm also the type that when I'm in a room full of people I'm quiet, watching and listening and only say something when talked to or if I have something to say. This song is very touching and I love songs that make me feel vulnerable while listening to them. I've heard songs that I can say I don't understand 100% what the person has gone through because I haven't gone through what they have, but I still feel the pain they feel (or happiness if it's a happy song). Tatiana is a great lyricist and I also love how she knows when to sing and when to scream to show her emotion. A lot of bands just scream to scream, but when she does it's to convey the emotion she wants us to feel, whether it be anger or frustration. Her clean singing is the same, she knows when to sing softer and when to belt to show us what she's feeling. That's something few singers can do. I'm going to see them on the 30th and I can't wait! I'm very excited!

Bro, all you need is your family and at least one GOOD friend. Nurture what you have and life won't seem "emptier" without the others. In the video, there's a direct correlation to the pressure she felt for procrastinating lyric writing for the album to the last second. Her bandmates pursue her, pressure her. The bullets (sharp words) at them do nothing, but then she sees the wolves on the wall, realizes her defensive anger and her over-reaction in a situation she created, and throws "her art" (metaphor for the lyrics they want) at the band and they go away. The wolf story (below) is critical to understanding her internal conflicts as displayed by the wolf art. Thank you, Tati, for giving us a glimpse into your world. From a Tennessee Cherokee...Keep feeding the White Wolf. White Wolf, Black Wolf: A Cherokee Story Inside you lives a wolf of white- of patience, peace and love. He is forgiveness, hope and light; a blessing from above. This wolf of white the world will see through all the good he brings to thee. _____This wolf of white, _____this wolf of white, his gifts will set your spirit free. A wolf of black, as dark as night lives next to him inside. He’s hatred, rage, cruelty, fright, intolerance and pride. This wolf of black the world will see through evil actions, evil deeds. _____This wolf of black, _____this wolf of black, his teeth will make your spirit bleed. Within your soul, the two wolves fight to see which one will give directions and will win the right to show you how to live. Which one will win the fight? I read an interview with Tati and Eugene a few weeks ago where they were talking about the making of this album. The band had sent the music to Tati to write the lyrics. She went through a period of writers block where she couldn't come up with anything. She was feeling intense pressure to produce. I think this video represents the pressure she was feeling from the band. I think at the end where she threw the sand, the sand represented the lyrics. She was saying "Here are your fucking lyrics, now leave me alone!!!"

Jinjer recently posted on their channel Bass Playthrough of this song and Eugene in the comments confessed, that song was written by him (and the whole song around the bass). They spoke before, in this album, one song by Eugene, one by Roman and all other by Vlad. I don't know which song by Roman.

Such a great song....such a great video. Thanks for the honest reactions always Tank! -- An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life: “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. ”It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf will win?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “If you feed them right, they both win. You see, if I only choose to feed the white wolf, the black one will be hiding around every corner waiting for me to become distracted or weak and jump to get the attention he craves. He will always be angry and always fighting the white wolf. But if I acknowledge him, he is happy and the white wolf is happy and we all win. For the black wolf has many qualities - tenacity, courage, fearlessness, strong-willed and great strategic thinking - that I have need of at times and that the white wolf lacks. But the white wolf has compassion, caring, strength and the ability to recognize what is in the best interest of all. “You see, son, the white wolf needs the black wolf at his side. To feed only one would starve the other and they will become uncontrollable. To feed and care for both means they will serve you well and do nothing that is not a part of something greater, something good, something of life. Feed them both and there will be no more internal struggle for your attention. And when there is no battle inside, you can listen to the voices of deeper knowing that will guide you in choosing what is right in every circumstance. Peace, my son, is the Cherokee mission in life. A man or a woman who has peace inside has everything. A man or a woman who is pulled apart by the war inside him or her has nothing. “How you choose to interact with the opposing forces within you will determine your life. Starve one or the other or guide them both.” -Cherokee Story

IMO anyone who dislikes Jinjer or calls them generic is a total fill in the blank. I have to say fill in the blank because KZbin will delete what I want to type. Been a fan of metal since I was a teenager back in the mid 1980s. Jinjer is one of these rare several dozens of bands since the beginning of metal that has moved myself in metal music or any music of any genre.

I feel like these lyrics truly dismantle the relationships we've formed with the people we see or are in contact with on a regular basis through work or education or other activities - and they're a great chance for us to take a step back, re-evaluate the bonds and relationships we have formed and compartmentalize. Not to cut ties, necessarily, but to focus our time and energy and compassion on those people who truly deserve it. The ones you have a healthy relationship with. And that is quality over quantity. I feel like we always measure our worth by how many "friends" we have. But having just one or two people that you truly know and who truly know you, and you care for one another is so much more fulfilling than having lots of acquaintances. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

It amazes me how many people we see in public view -- be it a KZbin creator or a singer or an artist or a writer -- are introverted. Like, we're all outgoing in one incredibly specific sense, but other than that, we're happiest in solitude and recharging our batteries. This song definitely struck a chord with me and it's amazing to see how not alone I am in that.

Really nice review of an emotive & poignant song. Metal is angry music for angry people, whether that's the way you've been treated by family or society & an associated negative world view. Anger is the by-product of fear, often associated with low self-esteem. You get angry because you're scared something bad will happen, usually someone will hurt you somehow, maybe because you feel or have been told you're no good. A classic Jinjer lyric, "childhood of misery is a lifelong injury" says a lot about where Tatiana & probably the band are coming from. Ukraine doesn't sound like much of a picnic when they were kids. A lot of people suffer with depression & anxiety as a result of others for whatever reason but especially so during the pandemic. A very pertinent & powerful song.

This song reminds me of the saying "solitude is dangerous, because it is addictive" and that's so true. I think we all had phases, where for weeks on end, we didn't meet any people on our freetime. And it was good. No one to bother you, no need for pretending to be someone you're not. It was really hard to get out of thosr phases, because it was so easy

Tank, you said one thing about the road people you met and you considered friends, and those people showed themselves by not showing no more. I felt that with people I used to do bycicle rides, Some I thought they were friends, but the truth is that they were there because there was a common cause. So I started to understand that the majority of our friendships only exists due to convinience. The good thing is that the true friends will show, they always show! And in the end of the day, those are the ones that matters. All the Best dude, to you and family! 💪

This song really hits me, it pretty much is my life. I am very introverted unless I am comfortable with my environment. I think this song is my favorite Jinjer song. I truly appreciate Tatiana willingness to be vulnerable, so it makes me feel less alone in the world with my feelings. I don't think she was directing anything at the band personally, instead using them as symbol of outside obligations. Which forces her to leave her safe space to join the "real" world that makes her feel not so comfort and safe.

I think this song and its lyrics balance on the rather fine line between being an introvert and being depressed: Sometimes the "outer world" is just too much, and you need some "me time" in order to recharge your batteries (to pick up the lyrics) and you're just perfectly happy being on your own (in contrast to being lonely). And then there's this moment where you wonder "Am I happy with being by myself or am I secluding myself from the world in a way that is too much/not healthy?" And to me, this song is about the frustration that on the one hand the outside world seems to constantly demand that you "participate", while on the other hand you wonder how much isolation and being on your own is healthy for you.

Tatiana has been putting herself out there since Pisces, I Speak Astronomy and Perennial but never to this extent. Being constantly on the road kept her mind occupied most of the time and when they had breaks in between touring, they weren't at home long enough for her to get comfortable in her "bubble" again. Now, with the forced long break, she spent a lot more time in that "bubble" and got so comfortable that it was much more difficult for the guys (and her too) to get her back to doing what they needed from her while recording an album. This song is an accurate description of the struggle between wanting to stay in the "bubble" and needing to get out of it because life outside continues and she's also part of that life. Fortunately for us, she found a way to feed the Wolf of White more than the Wolf of Black and the result is another lyrical masterpiece. : )

This is why I love reaction videos. They add some perspective on already great songs by adding your own opinions and ways which you relate to the songs. Really wish there could've been an album reaction cause it'd be great, but you've got a lot going on and have already said that's not your focus. Awesome video! While this video was premiering, Motionless in White just randomly dropped a new live music video for their 2019 song c0de. It's kinda like a tour montage, which is perfect for you! You really seemed to enjoy Thoughts and Prayers, so I highly recommend reacting to this. It's more upbeat but also more emotional.
