Thank you for posting this. I remember meeting John Candy at the party where they were filming this. That is me dressed as David Bowie, Aladdin Sane, from 7:03-7:05 in the upper left frame of the video. My 2 seconds of fame.

This is an amazing glimpse into the Halloween Celebrations that took place in Carbondale. Sadly, when I was a student there in the late 80's and early 90's the celebration was less about dressing up and more about just drinking (not that drinking wasn't always a part of it!) thanks for saving this piece of history!

Wow! What memories! I was there, don't know what I dressed up as. I recognized one of the guys, name is Craig and I know we crammed for a criminal justice/terrorism class. RA at Boomer 1 at the time. Thanks for sharing.

I was at one of the first ones in 1974 when there were about 500 people and one block was closed. My last one was in 1978 when there were thousands of people and the street was closed from the Varsity Theater all the way to Merlins. I could not believe what it had become in just four years.

And the early eighties became 50,000 easy. Whole dam strip shut down and became number 1party school nationwide. Thanks for the push start.

I was there in 73-75 I think one of the first, impromptu, beer store sold out, naked people racing down main with naked chicks on their shoulders. The cops just turned their backs on the weed smokers. A naked dude was doing handstands on top of a building facade and fell off onto the awning. What mammaries !
@ronniecochran3963 жыл бұрын
@@williamimboden9899 that was around the time Ray Stevens "The Streak" came out. My Mom worked at Thompsons point and Granel as a cook. Had a lot of streakers running around leaving her face red for quite some time. Though I never saw any on campus much,Cedar lake was the place to be in the summer at the cliffs. Air rafts and no tan lines as far as the eyes could see.

Heard about it later. I think that was the year I went as a guy who choked on his own vomit. Apparently some people saw what I had mixed up, put on my jacket, and thought it was actual vomit. I could not have been prouder.

I was at their show on campus at Shryock Auditorium. They mostly played songs from Vienna, their latest album. The band was also at the party with John Candy toward the end of the video.
