Hey Alex, I'm in Massachusetts I just delivered to Dover New Hampshire. I put my rookie behind the wheel an hour ago it's not too bad here we're picking up for Yankee Candle. They just opened a store at the local mall in North Carolina, I secured this run a month ago. Can't wait 2 more weeks and we're getting our brand new 2024 Kenworth's! I told my rookie if he helped me team drive, he'll get a new one. So, how's your FRIGHT liner? Keep it safe and out of the ditches bro. I'm releasing my first trucking video in two weeks; I hope you watch and enjoy it Alex.

So if you have the room, slide the tandems all the way back. I have found its a lot easier to back the trailer, and maneuvering. Plus if you think about it, most shippers and receivers ask you to slide the tandems. So I would open my doors and slide my tandems, and then start to backup.

In my experience, large facilities like that separate shippers from receivers. My placement was based upon why I was there. There was separate equipment for each (not interchangeable, this 50 forklifts were not mixed with the other 50), and they had them separated by many docks. Perhaps the story at where you were at?

@chrisiverson257 Жыл бұрын
Alex gotta learn how to walk a trailer over. When pulling straight crank wheel hard left, then hard right, then hard left again and whatever way you start you physically move trailer over that direction would've cut your backing down by half.

Dont that noise from those 4way signals drive you nuts.I never understood that I'm from Florida and we only use them in emergency only.If we go into the northeast they have a under a mile a hour law that you use them .By the way backing in where it's close to other trucks is so the forklift operators don't have to run so far they have that for a reason. That's why I got unloaded in 20 minutes Ok Alex take care not too many your age does what you do Good luck in your career.

I don't doubt you are happy with what you are doing, but I don't think you are being well paid. When you go out on a trip the meter should start running. Think of a seven day trip this way. The first 40 hours at $15.00 an hour (crappy money) would be $600.00. As long as you are with the truck and living in it you should be paid. Even when you are sleeping. That is another 128 hours at time and a half for overtime. That time is worth $2,880 or for the week long trip should be $3,480.00. Ok 650 miles a day at 50 cents a mile is 325.00 per day or $2,275.00 for 7 days. So you'd have to make another $1,205 a week to make $15.00 an hour. What you are really making (assuming 50 cents a mile) is $9.80 an hour.

I have never seen a OTR driver be so nervous about backing a trailer, or going to truck stop and leaving because the only options were “not easy “ backing or all by themselves parking. I like that you are careful and I love your videos but please chill out on moments of complaining that “ you don’t know why they put you at a certain dock where other trucks are parked next to yours. I am sure you know this hopefully, but they put you at a certain dock because that is where they have the other stored merchandise as you are hauling .
