Hi from South France (Perpignan), 🌴🌞 I want to clarify one thing. In France, the legal retirement age is 64. However, it depends on the number of quarters contributed and birth year. You can't do what you want. It's for workers who have started to work at a very young age. In addition, all this greatly impacts the monthly pension that will be paid. "Legal retirement age (minimum authorized age)" doesn't mean "full-rate retirement" regardless of the number of quarters contributed. The latter being, as in all European countries, set at 67. Not knowing all these nuances, foreigners tend to think the French are happy and lazy welfare recipients. Which, faced with the facts, is an urban legend. Pax, humanitas. ☮👈😎

My American friend who moved to Portugal and learned the language- lived in France for years! She said also they are VERY HARD to make friends with. She said work folks do not become friends. period...and I'm pretty sure she spoke French, but she was in Paris...so maybe outside it's different. YES, he hit it, the French regard themselves as the center culturally so they resent- English speakers approaching them...in their own country with a foreign language....and also another tip- we often don't greet "bonjour" that strikes them as VERY RUDE...

It makes no sense to go through Paris if you're traveling to Bordeaux from Nice! Nice Airport is the third busiest in France, with daily flights to Bordeaux, and the flight time is at most one hour. Taking the train doesn’t make sense; and still, from Nice to Bordeaux, no need to go through Paris. it would be more expensive and much slower. It’s true that France is very centralized around Paris, FOR TRAINS, but thankfully there are direct connections between French cities by plane, which are much cheaper compared to American prices. I just checked the price of a one-way ticket between Nice and Bordeaux. It ranges from as low as €36 if booked two weeks in advance to around €120 on weekends.

@ Because the USA claims to be "the biggest Democracy of the Planet". The Americans have all the tools at hand to make their country, if not "great again" (!!!), at least a better place to live in. Whilst in Europe, the vast majority of the immigrants come from godforsaken countries, where their horizon spells "no future". They don't have the choice.
