Great work Brett - and so much more authentic than many of those commercial efforts we see on the box. Spinning wheels and product placements left, right and centre drive me mental. Your vids capture what I like about taking the deefer out on the tracks - and you've whet my appetite for another trip! Love it. Long time watcher of your vids, and now a supporter on your new patreon site (great initiative!).

Just came across this fabulous post of yours and very enjoyable watch. Friends have recently completed this trip and loved it. I too had a mechanic (a friend actually) install 4 new shock absorbers and major service and PRE trip on my 1997 Disco back in 1999. I departed on the first leg of my trip at 0300hrs. 2 hours in on inland QLD gravel roads 3 shock absorbers had lost the mounting nuts. That required a limp into the nearest town and about 3 hours delay. Since then I check everything every time.

Loved your video. Please make more. I have been debating on getting a Defender....we'll see...I think a mechanics course would be in order before doing so. I had a Range Rover years ago and the day the check engine light finally went off, I drove it immediately to the Lexus dealer and traded it in before the light came back on. The Land Rover mechanics never were able to figure out what was wrong with it. My daughter still has the Lexus SUV 18 years later and it's still going strong. I still love the look and feel of any Land Rover though. Best of luck on your next BIG adventure and I look forward to the video.

Ever since I became aware of Malcolm Douglas and his trips through the Kimberly, I've wanted to head to Broome and begin my journey. Like you, I longed to 'roam', but unlike yourself, being married with a family was the prohibitive factor for me. I simply couldn't spare the time nor money to travel tp the places I wanted to. But now, mid forties, I am preparing my vehicle and creating an itinerary. Finally, it's going to happen, the way I want it to. This is occurring much later in life than I'd hoped... my former wife and I talked about heading off on such a trip with the kids and a camper, but again, life got in the way. But, so long as I go everywhere in Australia I want to go before I die, I'll be buried with a smile on my dial. Cheers for the inspiration to finally get out there. See you on the tracks!

Beautifull video. I travelled back in 1984 with another bloke from Perth to Darwin. From Canarvon to Katherine on and of we had a lot of grevel, no bitume roads in those years. It really felt like travelling in the outback when leaving York WA after a few days. I hitchhiked from Katherine to Townsville and from there took the Greyhound to Melbourne. The silence with only some native birds and the sandflies brought back manny good memories from my traveling around the whole of Australia. That must be exhausting work, setting up your camera on tripod then driving off or up the dune. Then having to come back to fetch your camera and all the editing. The final result and "documentary" is wonderful though. Just wanted to say how much I (we) appreciate all that you do. :)

Yes.. a lot of hard slog in the sand setting up shots in the sun. Was worth it though. My best film to date. Editing also takes a few weeks off my life.

Always enjoy following your videos, My Defender has not had as many trips in the remote outback yet but time permitting this will change soon. Great work.

Awesome mate. I was 45 before I met someone to go Land Rover adventuring with. Mind you I only got my Land Rover that year. I do like to go driving on my own though, something about that personal challenge and self-reliance. Video perfect length and great editing & camera angles. Nice one

Thanks mate. Yes the odd solo challenge is good. Everyone needs the occasional trip alone i reckon to contemplate life's mysteries.

Great job on the video. I love to see someone out alone & well-prepped to handle it. I picked up a couple of useful hints for an upcoming solo Trans-America Trail trip I have coming next month (i.e., that real thick wire and those giant pliers! I have wire and pliers but they seem totally inadequate after seeing you work on your rig!). Happy travels!

Thanks mate. Yes fencing wire is the go to item in the Australian bush for many repairs. Enjoy your adventure and safe travelling.

Good Work Simple and to the point, to me whatever you drive is not the main issue, but how responsible you are using your 4x4 plus the event you succeeded showing the Googs Track so well done.( I drive a Nissan GU soon to be A Y62 TIL)

Amazing country out there. It’s on my bucket list to get to Australia for some overlanding at some point. Seems like there are still some really remote and seldom travelled tracks out there. Awesome adventure my friend. Cheers!
