I think this is probably one of the few animatics that's genuinely changed a song for me- the upbeat, fast-paced tone contrasted against the nightmarish environment of the apocalypse creates what has GOT to be some of the coolest dissonance I've seen so far. Especially because the lyrics still fit so perfectly- this is their roaring 20's, just desperately trying to stay alive and cope. I love this so much!

The whole theme of the song being “his roaring 20s” with irony fits so well, and is really sad to - because this is Donatello’s (and all of their) “roaring 20s”. Rather than be out having fun and being a young adult, he’s had to struggle to survive in an apocalypse, deal with grief before tragically dying painfully with no end to his suffering. He died before he could be at peace with the fact, before he could say goodbye. His 20s were just fear and fighting with no break until death - until “home”, as the song suggests. He wants to go home, because it means the return to normalcy. He never got there, a true tragedy for him and his brothers, all suffering until the end. Basically what I’m trying to say is that this is amazing, I’ve watched it like 3 times already and about to watch it again

@@magpiecrown9202 I just find the whole future time line tragic for the boys, and your animatic really captures the hopelessness of the entire thing through the tragedy of Donnie’s (needless) death, when he should be still being…well, a kid with his brothers. All before he was even middle aged. The writers really pulling “oh yeah the apocalypse happened and no one was happy ever again and they all died” is actually really depressing. Sure they fixed the timeline but it still existed. Also I am drawing fanart of this death now you cannot stop me

I love this entire animatic so much, don't get me wrong, but my absolute favorite part is before it even begins. The trigger warning. Like, just look at nerdy ol' Donnie lookin up at the words, breaking the fourth wall as usual, and then he sees the "Implied character death" and he just goes, "Wait what." And then the emoticon is just shoved in his face- It's so lively and Donnie's character is captured so well for such a small moment. It really shouldn't be the best part, but to me it is, because it just has so much life and energy and it's such a cool contrast to the rest of the video and I... I love this animatic, man.

it wouldn't be legal. Fan work is actually kinda illegal but tolerated as long as we don't make money out of it. If we were to try to make something really big, we would get stopped because we don't own any rights. :/ but we still have shorts animatics and fanarts that are really cool! :) (plus, creating a show takes A LOT of TIME and knowledge. doing a good show isn't that easy)

BUD I AM SCREAMING the complete flip flop I did from hyped up hand flaps at the first chorus (that black screen to everyone jumping into the air hell YEAH) to the dread and choked up feeling at the end where I wanted to legit screech YOU ARE DOING MANY THINGS TO MY EMOTIONS!!!! Your use of black and white as the general palette with punches of colour gave a weight to the mood and a lot of visual interest, and I love the lingering emphasis on Donnie's amputation through the second verse, that really hit home just how much it affected him. The song choice was STELLAR, I'd never heard it before but like some of the other commenters have said it's got this banger of an upbeat energy that contrasts so strongly with the visuals and lends a sort of "keeping my chin up out of desperation" tone to the whole story. You are KILLING IT my dude I need to watch this a bajillion more times DAMN. (PS the "enjoy :)" pushing into Donnie's face in the intro made me laugh, great stuff)

honestly it's up for interpretation! from an artistic point of view, i wanted to give his prosthetic its moment of 'becoming', of going from a blueprint to something tangible, and doing it by having donnie make an almost theatrical gesture over his tablet and adding some purple sparkles made for a nice visual transition between the scenes. so to me personally, he built it the traditional way and definitely enhanced it with mystic tech, but if you prefer to think that it was 100% mystic powers you are absolutely within your rights to do so :) hopefully this makes sense
