For the airfryer I spray the part cooked spuds with oil then give a dusting of course semolina which gives a bit more crunch to the roastie.

Great comparison! Thank you, I'm looking forward to getting my air fryer and I will definitely be doing the potatoes the AF2 way (air-fryer with oil) the crunch is my favourite part of the roasties! TFS 👍💖

Thank you! Yes it is all about the crunch! I hope you enjoy your recipes with the air fryer 😄

I do the AF1 method, but spray with oil for crispiness. Will now be trying AF2 method for a quick mid week treat. Thanks for the tips.

AF2 look absolutely delicious and had a beautiful crunch Always cooked my roasties in oven but I think I have to try this in my new airfryer. I too am on a mission to make the crispiest , fluffiest and tastiest roasties I have ever made. With all the excellent tips I have found online and your vid How can I fail

Airfryer as good, with 20 minutes less cooking time. Would say that's the clear winner in this energy crisis!

I’d recommend a different mic for the sound where you’re in front of the potatoes. It will make a big difference. Good content though

I usually steam my spuds, that way they don't get soggy and break up. Let them dry off the put in air fryer and spray with onecal - there are different flavours. Before getting an air fryer, I put my spuds into the hot fat in the chip pan. Technically not roasted but outcome the same.

Steaming sounds like a good method!

Air fryer really surprised me, they are perfectly cooked in the middle and crispy, which never happens in the oven even after more than 1h35 hours oô Hail Air fryer ! I don't even need to parboil them, it's insane
@OliBrandon Жыл бұрын
That’s great without needing to par boil them! Will have to try that

AF1 win Toss with oil rather than just sprinkle the oil over it. Then toss with seasonings in corn starch for a crisp outer.

Nice! Yeah I’ve heard corn flour can give a nice crispy crust

Good video. BUT... Just be aware that there are many air fryers (like mine) that do not have removable "grill plates" (or whatever you call them). The perforated plate is part of the inner basket attached to the handle. So AF2 is not possible - unless you get one of those inserts sold as air fryer cake pans (which will take away even more real estate). Or.. get creative with foil. (But don't try preheating with just the foil in, especially if you have oil in it. The internal windstorm will cause you severe grief) I'm sticking with my oven for these. Sometimes, "traditional" just works... :) (Oh, and the time difference between AF2 and oven? Tht' just another chapter of the audiobook I'm listening to ... or some playtime with my cat. Your mileage *will* vary )

Slobbing around the counter tops is a bit like a student thing.. I am pretty good at certain stuff, do I need to be a slobby student to do this or just do it without slobbing on the kitchen counter? End of the day, this kid would probably eat his own socks after a night trying to convince even his own flat mate to come back to his room
@OliBrandon Жыл бұрын
Yes Gerry - no slobbing, no good roasties. Those are the rules
@returnoftheimac1441 Жыл бұрын

DO NOT boil tatties first, this is called cheating, never boil taties before roasting them, half roast a joint of beef silverside, then add he tatties cook them in the roast juice, that he Scotish way, and the right way
