This Friday, the 7th of April is the 39th death anniversary of our daughter. Julie was a beautiful baby and was so, so loved by everyone. She was born on 12 February 1984. Then, one day short of 8 weeks old, she died of a very rare form of anaemia. It was sudden. Our lives changed forever on that day. And for 38 years my husband and I grieved her sudden and terrible loss. Together. My husband died on 22 December 2022. This year I grieve alone. Our daughters both live a thousand miles away. They'll call and we'll once again speak of an unspeakable loss. But essentially I'm literally alone. I know the path Rob and his family are walking. It's lonely. It's heart-rending. It's a grief like no other. And it lasts forever. My heart breaks again for every family that has known this loss. We aren't religious so I'm not under the illusion they're together now, happily reunited. That doesn't bother me. As Carl Sagan said (I'm paraphrasing) "We come from stardust and we return to stardust." That's enough for me. To our "Forever Wee". You were loved. Jenn in Canada 🇨🇦

When my son died people would cross the street just to avoid having to talk to me. It was very hurtful, and made me feel as though I was being punished by society for losing my son. It's been 40 years, but the way I was treated still makes me angry.
