I had the privilege of working as the studio manager at the Rukkus Room in Berry Hill. Got to see Rob record about a half dozen times. Each session was a clinic from a master. He made the guitar do things I didn’t know a guitar could do. Each riff and tone was always perfect. He is also a hilarious guy and very kind. Yall dive into Rob’s catalogue. He has endless guitar ideas. So happy to see him on this video.

This is indeed one of the best Rig Rundowns that I have ever seen. Thank you for playing through all of the gear! I know that your crew cannot always feature a player with their guitar miked in a pro studio, but having it done this way really made me appreciate hearing perfectly intonated and in tune guitars. The qualities of each amp were also easy to hear. This really stood out. Also appreciated Rob playing letting some great chords ring out as well as his single string licks. John, always love to watch your Rundowns, but in this one, loved to see you and Rob have a conversation as Nashville peers/fellow professionals. Great job to both of you and thanks so much!

38:52 "I don't use a lot of gain from pedals..." then pause at 57:09 and see every dirt pedal is set to 50% or higher gain/drive - and that Scarab fuzz is at 100% full on fuzz. 🤣We try to convince ourselves we don't need pedals, and yet... 😁 Great rundown, Premier Guitar! Superb player and a hidden gem.

I can attest to how great Rob not only sounds but plays. He played on a number of tracks on my latest album via producer Tom Hambridge. We recorded right there at Soundstage Studios. In addition to being a super nice guy, he's a treasure of a musician. Thanks for this video, and no thanks for the money I'll probably be spending on new gear as a result, LOL!!!

Great to see you killing it Rob. If you even see this comment, this is Kitty Hopkins' son Kyle. You may or may not know she passed away in late 2018. She'd be so happy to see your success. Especially the fact that you've been playing with Seger as she was such a huge fan. She took me to see you with the Great Shakes at some small bar in Nipper's corner probably 25 or more years ago and I was so blown away by your playing and have been a fan ever since. I'll definitely have to come check you out next time you're at the Underdog or another local venue. ✌️ Kyle Hopkins.

Great RR with Rob. I like how you guys sorta reminded us that most pedal combinations work best if each pedal you use is in it's "minimum" setting capacity. If you're going to stack things, you need to keep them all in check so they don't fight for attention in the mix. Most new players think "more is better", but that is seldom, if ever, the case. Less is usually more, like in "losing the bass".

I agree about amp wattage. I think 50w and more are better suited for live situations. In a studio the sound is more important than being loud and being loud in terms of wattage really compromises tone.
