I'm thinking that folks aren't respecting the dominance of Mr. Big Shot, at the point guard position, over that extended stretch of time. It ain't the Hall of FLASHY. I'll admit, it was only flashy, TO ME, because I appreciated the pure artistry of how Chaunce was totally orchestrating the performance, in ways that apparently it might take a point guard to understand. I'd be willing to be that the all-time great point guards, from Magic to Steph, would unanimously agree that Chauncy Billups should be a Hall of Famer.

I agree with the caller who said athletes need to be “SPECIAL!” It isn’t enough to just be good or even great. HoF players need to be SPECIAL. How do we define “special?” Changing the structure of the game, e.g., Kareem. Transcending your sport on and off the court, e.g., MJ, Magic, Montana, Bird, Brady, Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard Achieving things no one thought possible, e.g., Calvin Murphy, A.I., Roy Jones, Jr., Roberto Duran, Salvador Sanchez, O.J. Simpson, Barry Sanders, Bernard King I also think Mugsy Bogues is a HoFer given what he achieved. Exhibiting superhuman, iconic feats, e.g., Dominique, Rodman, Earl Campbell, Mike Tyson, Roy Jones, Jr., Thomas Hearns, Bo Jackson, Ken Griffey, Jr., Ichiro, Shaq, Vince Carter Achieving ridiculously great stats. e.g., Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson (he will be a HoF QB), Michael Phelps Dominating your sport for an extended time, e.g., Wilt, Kareem, Bill Russell, Brady, Roy Jones, Jr., Kareem, P. Manning, Jackie Joyner Kersee, Serena Williams, Edwin Moses, Wayne Gretzky, Martina Navratilova, Carl Lewis, Tim Duncan, Kobe, MJ, Pele Bringing a special trait or skill to a sport that cannot be duplicated or was irreplaceable, e.g., Rodman, Bernard King, MJ, Mahomes, Pele, Penny Hardaway, Tim Hardaway, Steph Curry, Gary Payton, Charles Barkley, Mugsy Bogues (not in yet), George Foreman, Mike Tyson Winning an extraordinary number of championships, titles, or medals, e.g., Bill Russell, Roy Jones, Jr., Serena Williams, Roberto Duran, Brady, Kareem, Magic, Tim Duncan, Shaq, There are others… Alex English dominated the 1980s era in scoring in a decade with more pure scorers than any other in NBA history. So yes, he is special. He didn’t receive his due credit because of the era in which he played. Imagine Alex English, Adrian Dantley, Kelly Tripuka, Tom Chambers, Kiki Vandiweigh, Ricky Pierce, Dale Ellis, Andrew Toney, and Xavier McDaniel if they were playing today. They’d all be completely dominant.

There's guys in there nobody has ever heard of and are pretty much irrelevant. But that's what you get when you make the Hall an annual TV product. Vince is a HOFamer. First thing, he scored over 25K points in his career. Most, if not all players that hit that mark get in. Second thing is what he has done for basketball in Canada. Same as Yao Ming. Honestly, they are putting Chauncey in solely from his 2004 run. He was the finals MVP and beat the Lakers as major underdogs. And honestly, Ben Wallace was the best player in that series for how he slowed Shaq down. He didn’t stop him but Shaq was frustrated and wasn’t as dominant. Chris is picking and choosing based off his preference. His reasoning for not putting Blake Griffin in did not make any sense. A lot of media and journalists have personal relationships with players. They don’t burn bridges so they don’t speak the truth.

As a Piston fan of 44 years (still) and someone who saw Chauncey hit near rock bottom when he came to Minnesota (prior to him joining the Pistons as a FA). I have no issues with him being in considering HE was the leader of that team that from 2002 -08 was always in the NBA conversation. Here's the thing. Bernard King is in the Hall of Fame and his window was short although he was a stud at his position. He's less accomplished than Chauncey. BTW, I've been to football (Canton), Basketball (Springfield MA), Boxing, Swimming and Bowling HOFs. The Basketball one is by far the WORSE exhibit wise and the criteria is all over the place. Just wanted to say that. I see it now as "how impactful were you in the era you played within". Thats pretty much all you can do now. Frankly I don't think it should be YEARLY in ANY sport. Thats where you'd limit all the "good to very good" entries within the various HOFs. It should be IMO strictly GREATS Is Chauncey a GREAT? No, but he was arguably one of the best, most effective, clutch PGs of his era. When you factor how he flamed out in Boston, Toronto and Denver (1st tenure) prior. IT's incredible the leap he made. Rob Parker for some reason has turned into a Detroit "hater" of sorts I don't know. California seems to turn people out but it's funny how Rob made his CAREER in Detroit and how he has these shots now that he's away. He of all people should understand the "Detroit vs Everybody" mentality but I get it. When Robert Horry is subject to come up I'd bet Rob would be all for it lol. (Joke). Some points in Chauncey's favor that aren't spoken about a lot: 1. I went to the FIBA World Cup in Istanbul back in 2010 and saw Chauncey orchestrate the offense as the starting PG, leading Team USA to the gold medal. 🥇 2. He was part of Team USA that won the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship which set the stage for the Redeem Team to compete and win gold in the Beijing Olympics the following summer. 3. He led the Pistons to back to back NBA Finals appearances, only to lose in '05 to the Spurs because Larry Brown was too distracted during the series. (Brown was occupied with his move to the Knicks the following season). 4. When he arrived in Denver, he took them straight to the Western Conference Finals and gave the Lakers a run for their money with a tough 6 game series. For comparison, Iverson could only take them to two first round exits. During that 16-game postseason, Billups averaged 20.6 pts, 6,8 ass and 1,3 st. He shot 45,7% from the floor, 46,8% from 3 and 90,6% from the free throw line. 18:54 Why is it so unreasonable to use Chauncey's Finals MVP as an argument for his HOF-selection? The only Finals MVPs who aren't in the HOF are Maxwell and Iguodala (and the latter could still make it one day). ALL THE OTHERS ARE IN THE HOF❗So this plays in Chauncey's favor tremendously. CONCLUSION: Chauncey Billups is deserving to be in The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The HOF is simply letting in too many "good" players. It should be for all time greats. And no Chancey and Vince aren't all time greats.

It isn’t debatable, if t-Mac made it, Vince is a shoe in. Imo, the hall of fame should be 50 players max and to get in someone has to be taken out. Moved to a legacy position, not totally stripped
