There are 168 hours per week which means PG is literally spending less than 2% of the hours in a week on a podcast. Do you think he is jerking off during the rest of the 96% of the working hours he has in a week? It's simple math which even a grade school student can do. Thats a hell of a gamble. Keep in mind the max is higher for the same team then if the player leaves and with his injury history that could quickly become a poison pill. Signing him as an asset is ruthless as well because youd have to lie to him and say "we want you here for the future blah blah blah. We believe we can win a championship with you..". What they did was honorable because resigning him would have held a player that hasnt won hostage in an unwinable situation.
