However, it’s just more of the same homogeneous game… 4 and 5 out, high screen and rolls, drive and kick, a bunch of 3’s … I’ve been a fan of the game for decades, and I’m not one for the era comparisons, especially since the younger generation has little context and view the highlights and you can’t measure, nor understand the context. For me, it’s the rule changes, and the style of play. Elements have been removed (No post play | Bigs don’t even know how to play in the post anymore) no mid range, no diversity in teams playing style… It’s not as much competition and the officiating makes it difficult for me to watch a game from beginning to end. There’s no intrigue. It’s like watching a movie, the same movie with just a different cast… same story line same outcome. This is the modern NBA… and it’s why the ratings continue to slip~ I don’t wanna hear about illegal streaming either. The load management, the player injuries, the in season tournament… It’s all Eh…

The NBA Cup has no inherit value at all. The NBA Cup would mean something if it was attached to an award, such as guaranteeing a playoff spot, or maybe guaranteeing a first round bye in the playoffs. This is meaningless, exhibition basketball during November Sweeps that has no relevance to the season. You saw last season how effective it was for the Lakers' overall season... none at all. Want to eliminate players' ability to tank their play to force a trade? Want to eliminate 'load management'? Do it the WWE way: suspend contracts and tack on the time to the end of the contracts. And enough of these 'max' contracts and, luxury taxes, and 100 cap exemptions. Eliminate ALL of it and set a HARD salary cap, implement a maximum of 3-year contracts, and allow the players that EARN their contracts to be the ones that benefit. I've had more than enough of Kawhi Leonard being paid max contract money for the last 10 years and not playing 2/3rd of the games... and STILL being given even ANOTHER max extension!

They should do the NBA cup on off season as not to disrupt the regular season eg 1 month after the NBA finals. The games should be on knock out basis only similar to the FA football cup in England where all matches are determined by way of random draw eg 1st round, 2nd round, quaterfinals, semifinals & final. This will be more exciting as the weaker teams have some chance to progress in the rounds and can reach the final depending on their performance or non performance of the stronger teams during each match. However, the games are still based on luck of the draw to determine which opponent team you are facing whether strong or weaker team.
