I just lost my cat who died unexpectedly and way too soon. She was my everything, and was there for me through the hardest times of my life. After two weeks of staying up all night, forcing feeding, vet trips, and fighting, she still used her last bit of strength trying to comfort me with cuddles and purrs before being unable to fight any longer. She was my baby, and my rock, and had so much love to give. With it being only two weeks until Christmas, all I could think about was this song. I just turned 23, and this was the first year I was able to properly buy her a stocking, with lots of treats and toys, and a proper Christmas tree, and now my home feels hollow and empty without her, despite all the festive lights. When this song came out a year ago (on my birthday, coincidently) I had no idea I would be spending the following Christmas listening to it without her, and understanding a similar loss. Thank you Rob Thomas, for always being able to capture an emotion and put it into a song, because listening to this song makes it feel like I am not alone this Christmas

I loved the Tv show Psych but there was one joke in it that I never got. One of the characters catches Curt Smith listening to Tears For Fears, and Curt says, “You caught me listening to my own music. How utterly Rob Thomas of me.” Years later I can’t figure out what it means
