I JUST REALIZED THE A AND B SECTIONS SOUND LIKE A KIRBY FINAL BOSS THEME

This actually brought me so much excitement. Just outside of Pokemon, this arrangement forced emotions out of me and sucked me into every moment. The way this was composed...there's nothing to explain it other than just a masterpiece. I couldn't have asked for a better end to my day.

Man, it'll never happen, but I wish in PMD2 remastered that we got actual cutscenes, instead of (admittedly pretty looking) JPGS with text in front of them. Imagine the sea of time scene, but your character is now looking stoicly across the horizon (as well as a pokemon can anyhow) while your partner is sticking a hand/paw into the ocean as you're travelling, being alarmed when Lapras picks up the pace and you two begin to ascend. Just small, character details and animations like that would really add to the already great story set up in PMD2

When I saw the DX trailer with the cutscene at the end of the main story line reanimated I thought they'd include more of those in the actual game, but that didn't happen unforetunately... I'd love to see cinematic cutscenes like that!

I recently got to orchestration and I cannot express how good is to have notes explaining your thought process into the making. Besides being a genuinely awesome arrangements, this helps so much in understanding what it goes to compose an orchestral piece! Great work!

Thanks!! Please note I'm not actually professionally trained though so don't read too deep into what I'd written lol This is a wind band score by the way, which is different from orchestra. Mainly there's no strings section. There's definitely more to know about writing with string instruments in mind that I'm not aware of from my background in a band.

Very nice! I love the commentary, helped me appreciate a lot of things I would've missed on my own!

Waouh that was so excellent. I really like ur version! Much much more than the original! It's so rich
@FiveNineSquared3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Wow if the original used this though the cutscene would have to be 7 minutes long hahah Can't really compare the two like that :p

Absolutely fantastic arrangement, it breathes new life into the original piece so well while still capturing the emotions of the original! It reminds me of "Alpha" from volume 2 of the Minecraft ost!

Oooh, I really like Alpha. Maybe some unconscious referencing to it here.

As a watcher, I'm glad you're using notation software instead of DAWs, makes my more classical musician brain happy hehe the solution to bad built-in sounds for notation software is obviously just have a live performance ! ps it's always funny to notice that someone has clearly watched 8 bit music theory's video on pmd lmao
@FiveNineSquared Жыл бұрын
Ahaha of course but not everyone has access to a wind band on hand! Nowadays my flow is writing the bulk in notation software and importing the midis into a daw for better control over playback. It's the way I used the name "darkness" motif right? Nice catch :p Before 8bit's video I used to call it the "Secrets" motif from when NitroIndigo covered it in their video
@huantian Жыл бұрын
@@FiveNineSquared It's funny how one youtuber can coin the names of the different motifs and for it to be so prevalent haha, though ofc it *is* 8 bit music theory, I'd assume most pmd arrangers have watched that video. It's fun to have the sheet music just so I can entertain the fantasy of finding a friend group that plays those exact instruments to perform it live :P

That was nice, as always ! I'm really hyped about an eventual Temporal Tower piano arrangement, like the Hidden Lands one, so I will be able to play it after Threeshroud Forest (soon finished) and Hidden Lands on piano... By the way, I hope you will continue to compose such arrangements !
@FiveNineSquared3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Ahhh for Temporal Tower I don't know if I'll go the same route as Hidden Land though... We'll see. Also thanks for playing my sheets :D I will continue these!
@Maruvert3 жыл бұрын
@FiveNineSquared Haha, If you hesistate too much and if you really like this OST, maybe can you try to making both long piano arrangement and orchestral one. I think a lot of people like Temporal Tower too ! It's juste a suggestion, I don't know how much time you spend for each arrangement, it must be really long...just take your time and have fun working on your projects ! ^^
@FiveNineSquared3 жыл бұрын
I've considered doing multiple arrangements for this sort of problem, yeah. I don't know how well the reception's going to be if I posted two of the same piece back-to-back tho, especially since the next track's gonna be Dialga. Maybe I'll post one and then another at a later date
@Maruvert3 жыл бұрын
@@FiveNineSquared ...or you can post both pieces at the same time, people will be happier like "Two instead of one, it's truely amazing". :o As you wish ! ^^

The project has been building to this since 2018. It’s so good! The climax of the soundtrack is just around the corner... Also btw I’m assuming you’ve finished EoS at this point. What are your thoughts on it? How does it compare to Rescue Team from your perspective?
@FiveNineSquared3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! _The_ arrangement is coming quite soon... You've assumed wrong! I actually haven't touched the game in a very long while. But compared to RT, EoS has a lot more depth to its story and I really enjoy that. The only thing I feel that EoS fails to RT is on the choices of pokemon in the story and how they build upon that. In RT the story was based more upon the Pokemon themselves, like how Ninetales cursed human-Gengar, how Gardevoir sacrificed its life for them, how Xatu sees into the future... These were all based on their actual Pokedex entries. Meanwhile Explorers (and the rest of the series for that matter) largely forgoes making the main characters have backgrounds relating to the actual Pokemon. It does give a LOT more freedom over the story but it also kind of diminishes the point of even having the characters be Pokemon. Like you could have Explorers be written with actual humans and it'd not be very different.

doesn't seem that inspired by "briskly" though
