Robbie Fowler, Peter Schmeichel and Nigel Clough take their UEFA A License

Always a dream to become a uefa licensed coach and this week I’ll make that dream a reality. Would be amazing to get the A license somewhere down the line as well.

I would like to know how many passed and how many failed. Probably all because they are ex pros but ex pros dont make good coaches. Something the FA need to start looking at and STOP fast tracking pros to their UEFA A licenses. Something that will take me 3-6years maybe takes weeks for the pros and it isnt helping the game atall! The FA should look at people like Bergkamp and how he works with the u11's of Ajax and works individually with Strikers from all age groups. There will be thousands of people who fail their UEFA A license each year who are better than these guys on this course and it has to stop. However some may be great and have a great success in managing, probability is, its probably only 2 of them course. If that!

Fair comment! Think its a shambles that the purely British phenomenon of focusing on managers takes precedence to the training of coaches. The FA aren't doing enough to implore a cohesive, national system of training for coaches as well as younger players. I'm not well versed on the subject by any means, though. But, I think in the cases of Clough, Fowler, and Schmeichel, they aren't necessarily being fast tracked, they just have means available to them as they are all coaches in some form at their respective clubs
