I’m so glad my parents loved robbie when I was growing up because not only do I get to appreciate how beautiful this song is on it’s own, but the additional sweetness of nostalgia takes it to another level. Robbie Williams look in this clip is quite clearly inspired on Francois Cevert who was a young and climbing French driver very close friend and teammate of Jackie Stewart in Tyrrell. Sadly, Cevert had a fatal crash whose reasons were never well verified during tests in Watkins Glen 1973. Stewart who was thinking to stop with races decided to quit soon after this crash because he was good friend of Cevert and considered him as a sort of his heir.

So, they should really investigate further, although they tried, but I think the F1 organizers didn't allow it. I read some things about it recently, because I was researching bad accidents in F1 and found Cevert's story. According to some, he was not doing very well on June 11, 1973, as he had vomited before training. There was vomit on his helmet when they collected it after the accident that killed him. But he had suffered another serious injury in the previous race, caused by Scheckter and which few people talk about. On that occasion, he injured his ankles and wrists and was in a lot of pain, as he refused hospital treatment because it was the end of the season. He went racing at Watkins Glen just two weeks later. Do you think he was really okay? I saw a photo of him with a bandage on his wrist on Pinterest.

This song for me has like some sad depressing undertone but still some motivating aspect in it as well. Really strange to explain but in the end of the song it makes you feel you have to believe u must believe and stay strong until all the lights go out!
