Yes. This was the weather in Nightvale, but this is the first time the weather in Nightvale made me pause and look up the song. This song is a pacifist, Jesus preachin' throat punch to every dogma I grew up believing. Beautiful.

I've listened to this song at least 5 times today. I heard the first verse on the weather of Welcome to Night Vale and I had to pause it so I could listen to it when I was fully paying attention. This is beautiful, and somehow even with its mournful and sorrowful tone, it gives me comfort. I can't wait to hear more of this music. It's really stunning.

Night vale brought me here; I am not a Christian, but I admit that I cried at the last verse.
@zoewells31604 жыл бұрын
Well, it’s not really an explicitly Christian song. That may seem weird to say, since it’s about Jesus, but it’s more about him as a human being rather than a living god. And how his word has been corrupted over the years. Which I can fully agree with even as a complete atheist. Jesus may not have been the son of God, but I do think he was a great man, and his name has sadly been greatly misused to justify a cycle of violence he would have detested.

I do happen to be a Christian and hearing that last verse in a WTNV episode really shook me up. That episode destroyed me anyway, but this song not only absolutely fit the mood of the episode, but made me even sadder. Very emotional experience for me.

Hey man, I don't know if you read these comments, but I have something I wanted to tell you. Though I guess it's more for me than for you. I found this song almost four years ago when it appeared in episode 107 of Welcome to Night Vale. The music was beautiful and slow, and the message was a kind of tragic I was noticing more of as I was getting older. It stuck with me. Over the next four years, I stopped listening to Welcome to Night Vale, I guess I grew out of it, but I never stopped listening to this song. Every few months, my mind would drift back to that one melancholy song about wars, businessmen, and Jesus, and I'd come back here and have a listen. In all this time, it's meaning has changed for me. When I first heard it, it was about the pointless cruelty of war, how nothing gets better because no one tries. "Never mind 'thou shall not kill.'" But now it's about hope. Hope because there are people trying. "With every word you ever say, You teach the world to live that way." Thank you for this song, and for everything it has meant to me.
