In 1987 the Pall Mall Pro WoldCup Windsurfing was in the Netherlands. In Scheveningen. On one early morning there was no wind and it was rainy. I was walking over the beach and boulevard watching all the equipment of all those windsurfteams. Robby was also busy with his sails and he just came out of a truck and saw me standing in the rain. He envided me to have a seat in the back of his Mistral-Gaastra truck. We talked a little bit about windsurfing and if the weather wound change. It was an experience of my live. I"m also 59 and windsurfing is still my passion...and Robby still my idol.

Robbie is the real deal! I have been following him since I started windsurfing back in the mid 80s. Migrated to kitesurfing 2005 and now only buy naish kites. I'm into waves so his equipment always works better in waves than most others brands IMHO. Good to hear he's still living his dream but business 2nd... Reinvesting in windsurfing is brave but goes to his core ie someone has to step up and while others dither Robbie just does it! Maybe a few ppl don't know he could have done the whole interview in German 🇩🇪. Perfectly fluent in German, watched him give an interview on a German sports show his German was flawless Bravo Robbie! Long may he follow his heart ♥ and dream...

Nice interview! Developed a passion for windsurfing only recently during the pandemic, seeing people racing on the local lake and wanting to do more than the usual SUP sesh. Glad Naish is still pushing for developments in windsurf, I think the 4-in-1 board is a perfect approach, looking forward to buy one soon!

I grew up in France in the 80s, started windsurfing as a teenager, when it was all the rage on all lakes, especially in the SW of France.. was real addictive with the speed. Alsp the fact ypu cpuld just do low speed discovery of a lake, away from the crowd with a longer board.

How can the inventor of the railride and freestyle ever be asked who he lived up to? He was the beginning of the whole sport in every aspect, racing, slalom and waves. Has then made the transition to kitesurfing and done very well.

i was in the windsurfing biz during the 80's 90's watched as the sport shrunk what killed it was the technology which was developed as with all things but with that came the COST ($$$) soon nobody could afford the equipment and thus there went the sport
