I've been thanking you for 40 years! I am quite sure that you don't even imagine how many of us pronounce your name as if you were part of the family. My parents, in their eighties, know who you are; my wife, son, siblings, my in-laws, close friends... Robby, you were and you are an incredible inspiration! Thank you, man!

Seeing Robby bottom turn a pink 1111-US sail at Diamond Head once again gets me misty. Similar images from countless late-80's magazines inspired a generation of sailors also seeking freedom, expression, and challenge. Keep on chargin' Robby!

Amazing to see that Robby can still windsurf like this! It reminded me of a VHS tape that I had bought way back then: "RIP", featuring Robby windsurfing in so many fantastic places in Hawaii - I wish that video (RIP) was launched in Bluray or DVD format, or added here in KZbin. Long live the king!

This also me back to my late teens, how many VHS's (filmed from the shore at Diamond Head on telephoto lenses in those days !) I burned through watching the master !!! ... He's an inspiration, even to us who never ever experiences glass faced 10' swells in the North Sea !!! Imagine being out and seeing a pink sail with 111 on it ... Argh !!!

Great, you still rip it up. As i started Windsurfing 1974 you have been my Inspiration. As living in germany i Switched in year 2000 to Kitesurfing as i haven’t Maui waves here and my goal was to jump and fly. In 2004 I have been wedding my wife in Maui and I have gone windsurfing at Kanada and spreckelsville beach. there I realized how good windsurfing conditions can be when riding waves which are rolling on and on. Great to see your vids and thanks a lot for them. Aloha❤

Awesome. For those of a certain age it isn't the waveriding and Diamond Head, it's those duck gybes on the inside - iconic!! Just as a matter of interest - you're on quads and Force Fours a lot these days - you still do the custom tri fins so you have the choice, is it Ricardo's influence on the design that's made you like a quad more?
