Most fans especially ones who have been hearing the same bs year after year, it’s just laughable, even if they don’t match with the bruins as constructed can they beat, NY, Florida or Tampa? If Robertson leaving was just about playing time and coaching, you'd think he would have signed earlier than one week before training camp. The coach was changed early July. I've also not heard any talk about him rescinding his trade request since he's been signed. Those are two pretty large indicators that he still wants out. This deal was more of a, play here and do well, and we will see about trading you at the deadline or off-season when your value is higher.

It's too soon to pull the chute in Timothy Liljegren. I will be the first to say he hasn't been good, but he's right shot and he's only 24. How many times in the NHL have we seen 26 year old defenseman "come into their own" or "have a breakout season". The Leafs need to push him/keep developing him. But they need a plan for him. Berube is a good coach from the defensive side, he may be the answer. But they can't just sit there and hope he figures it out on his own.

Domi can actually play 3C for large parts of a season. Robertson-Domi-Jarnkrok was a solid scoring line for big stretches last season, Domi at 3C was fine, and finished the playoffs as 1/2C

I mostly agree with Adam. Here's what I would choose as of right now for my lineup. First trade Kampf, Jarnkrok and Liljegren. KNIES - MATTHEWS - MARNER PACCIARETTI - DOMI - NYLANDER MCMANN - TAVARES - COWAN ROBERTSON - DEWAR - REAVES EXTRA: HOLMBERG, LORENTZ AHL: Abruzzese, Minten, A. Nylander, Steeves RIELLY - TANEV BENOIT - MCCABE OEL - HAKANPAA EXTRA: TIMMINS AHL: Kokkenen, Niemela, Rifai, Webber WOLL STOLARZ AHL: Murray, Hildeby Tavares is a third line center. For the team who needs a third line defensive center. With McMann and Cowan helping, I think it is strong enough. Domi between Nylander and Pacciaretti should be fine. Robertson fills in as needed in top nine. Having OEL and Hakanpaa on third pair would help them stay fresh. They can play more as needed. Timmins can fill in for 15-20 games. If he's hurt, the guys on Marlies can fill in his spot. We can't afford Kampf Jarnkrok and Liljegren so let's unload them for picks or futures. I would have traded Marner but I guess that's not possible... Go Leafs!

I think you might see a more balanced top 9 that they load up when behind. So something like this: 1. Knies-Matthews-Domi 2. Mcmann-Tavares-Marner 3. Pacioretty-Holmberg/Jarnkrok/Minten-Nylander 4.Holmberg/Jarnkrok-Dewar-Reaves I think they drop Kampf and Robertson. If Pacioretty has a lineup spot then I don't think Robertson does. Kampf makes too much and doesn't upgrade enough over Dewar (if at all) for the price tag

I think there's two different questions that they were stuck on for roster construction. I think there are 2 different rosters: the one they want the leafs and the one they expect the leafs to ice. They should have stuck to the ones they want because the actual leafs one will be boring, wasting 5 mil + on the 4th line.

Given that the hakinpaa number came in at 1.47 instead of 1.5 they now have as much as 905 available if Robertson is moved (and of course Timmins waived) which happens to be exactly what cowan makes. Robertson being moved or waived would clear the way for Cowan to make the team (though not Pacioretty in that case)

Trading Robertson is weird, considering the line up they would need a forward in return, or enough assets to acquire a forward quickly. Seems they’d have to find a team with a Quality forward to give up, but if so they likely don’t need or want Nick. I could see the second option being more likely, sending him to a bottom team hoping for picks to flip, but how much can you really get in return? And would it be enough to flip and get a player of his quality or better? Unless it’s similar to Nets Pens grade that just happened where 2 teams flip young players of similar upside to get them in new environments, maybe?… It all seems strange unless I’m missing something. If they did it to trade Him purely to make roster spot for a PTO guy I think it’s not just a lateral move, but a downward love. Seems like just fake news to stir the pot and get clicks is the most likely situation here.

It feels too risky to bring in Paciorrety when you have young healthy guys ready to prove themselves. I rather keep Holmberg and Dewar in the line up than bring in Max. They dont need two, that is Jani and Max, that might be put LTIR. Don't risk loosing players for this.
